Woolworths gift card thread

I don't quite understand how you won't proceed with the transaction if points aren't evident at point of sale?

So you mean your want the bonus points to drop into your account immediately once you've scanned your EDR or FB and scanned the gift cards...... Yet haven't actually paid for the gift cards?
Do you just wait n check your app then and there?

Sorry if I'm completely misunderstanding the scenario.

Thanks
If I cannot see the points on the display at the checkout, I won't continue the transaction. At this point I have not paid but have scanned my ER card. The GC will only be activated after payment is accepted. It is possible that the checkouts are different/older depending on the store, but at the stores I go to the amount of points is displayed. So the points hit my account pretty much immediately, at the same time as the transaction/e-receipt in the account "activity".

I don't think this is the case for Flybuys. I purchased some things last Thursday as part of a 4 x weekly shop + spend $50 for 1000 points deal. The receipt showed that I had completed week 1, but the transaction and the 1,000 points didn't show up until yesterday.

ER and WoW is much better in this regard, but has more 'annoying' rules like 'only the first transaction of the day earn points' and PITA to buy GC more than $1,000 in one transaction etc.

I’m not fussed at all if the points don’t turn up on the spot - sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t - but I wouldn’t be denying myself the bulk points available on multiple gift card purchases just because they didn’t show on the register at the time.

Provided you’ve read the T&Cs and follow them there will be no problem getting the points, even if you have to ring.

As long as you wait 14 business days, anyway :(
That’s part of the T&Cs

Ok gotcha.
I haven't seen the points on screen at Woolies. Only the you've transferred xx_ qf rewards points or so. Maybe that's what you mean.

Yes FB bonus points drop hours later, much poorer system.

Thanks for your explanation.

Any time where I’ve had to chase up points in circumstances like this EDR seem almost over-obliging to give you the points - certainly very apologetic.
I've had to call twice, both times because of the "first transaction of the day" rule. First time, my bad. Second time, it was the staff who insisted that they can't process more than $1,000 of GC and that I'll get the points if I purchased smaller amounts and that if I didn't I could always just call up.

In both times, they did credit the points as an act of good will (it is described as "Make it Right - Gift Cards" in my account activity), but I wouldn't say cheerfully or even apologetically. The second time I was told that such good will wouldn't be extended again. So I've used all my "lives" and I'd rather rot in hell than chance it over the phone after the act, so won't proceed if I can't see the points on the display prior to purchase.

Note that my situation is different to that of @kangarooflyer88 who hasn't broken the rules as it were. Sounds like the system hasn't registered the points at all. In that situation, I'd be cross that I have to chase it up so would expect them to be very apologetic and over-obliging too.

Sometimes the rules say that the purchase of gift cards in any day must be made in a single transaction and sometimes it can be made in multiple transactions. If it’s the former, then it is the first transaction of the day that will count. Not sure why, if the rules require the purchase to be made in a single transaction, anyone would make them in multiple transactions and then expect they are entitled to points for the subsequent transactions.

What will be the downsides of this new arrangement?

If it helps discourage fraud, I'd be a very happy camper. Last round of Apple Gift Cards I got were all frauds. Annoying to have to get them refunded.
What happened with the Apple cards?

Ok. Read back a few pages to the last Perfect GC promo if you want to know why. TL;DR WoW staff can get it wrong.

But incredibly inconvenient

Someone had unsealed them, put in fake/different cards and reglued them. Almost impossible to tell from the outside. Both myself and the cashier checked them closely. Only way to verify is to rip open the packet before purchasing to make sure serial numbers match. Not sure if WW look kindly to you destroying merchandise before you purchase.

Wow! I haven’t heard of this one before.

Rhodes NSW has had this stand, I think since opening a couple of years ago. No EFTPOS terminal yet, but sometimes a helpful staff member available!

Hello there neighbour 👀 Rhodes has definitely had the stand since opening a tad over 2 years ago.

That's what I thought too but Uber is not shown as a participating retailer on the card:

I noticed the cards are cardboard now, in the packaging on the right - hoping legit cards now!
