Woolworths gift card thread

Don't underestimate the crooks ability to mass produce individual duplicate cards, including artwork and barcodes.

Edit: without a PIN or any card security chip the Visa1 to a crook is really just a $100 note wrapped in cardboard.

Yes understand that.

Though it takes it beyond what the average druggie can do.

Wondering if I could borrow people's wisdom.
I'm out of ideas

So I have a couple of council rates payments.
Most can be paid by PayPal so 2ppd. Very happy

There is one that doesn't accept PayPal or Amex. Or post bill bay. Just cc online with a 0.5% visa/ me

Is there any way around this and use my Amex card.

The best I have come up with is visa1 cards with 5% off at woolies thus making it 100.65 for $100+0.5% which makes it 1.15% fee with 3ppd

The way you've suggested is the best I know (provided they take part payments)

I guess all the mentioned scenarios are possible. Perhaps the company going belly up is the biggest risk. I only buy a couple cards at a time to cover things like petrol (the servo I use has a 2.2% amex surcharge) and a bill here and there. Generally I use the card the day or 2 after I purchase it. I wouldn't feel comfortable with anything more than that to be honest. I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable buying the amounts in bulk like some people do.

From Wednesday (7/6), buy a $50 or a $100 Kathmandu gift card and get 10% extra value on the card.

Do they have a $5.95 fee for a $100 card? I can't remember.
If so, it'll cost you net 7c per $100...

That's correct. The only VISA and the perfect giftcards both have a $5.95 fee.

7 cents for triple points which may not have otherwise been available to people is something that will interest many.

Triple points? Is there a triple point promo? I must be missing something...

It is only triple points if you are displacing a card that would have earnt one third of what you buy the eGift with.

In practice it may be 6 times better, or only 50% better, it all depends what cards you have and what payments methods the organisation/s you are targeting accept.

Sorry, where and how are you getting "triple points" thru cash rewards?

Purchase WISH card with an AMEX that awards triple points at supermarkets (Eg David Jones AMEX). Use that WISH card to buy the giftcard at Woolworths. Use that giftcard at any place where AMEX is not accepted or where you would not have received triple points if you had used your AMEX. Hence why I stated 'triple points which may not have otherwise been available '

Given posts #929, #931 and the historical discussion in this thread, I thought the connection was more obvious than some seem to have viewed it.

Most of us have multiple cards with different earn rates, and different earn rates too depending on the organisation.

Some organisations do not take Amex and you have to pay by MC or VISA.

So there is no hard and fast "triple points".

So it can be 3 points per $ displacing 2, 1.5, 1.0. 0.75 or 0.5 etc or depending on those factors.

And some do not have Edges. So it might be 2 points per $ displacing.....

NOT applicable at present (unless you have a targeted offer) is any purchase bonus point promotion that would further increase the attraction of this method. (ie such as 870 QFF points per $2000 GC purchased).

You can't get triple points via cashrewards using Amex Edge, or any other Amex card.

This just isn't true.

Here's just one example of a WISH card purchased via cashrewards using an AMEX card:

Note very carefully that triple points were awarded.
