Woolworths gift card thread

not sure why anyone shows teh ir card for buying gift cards

I only do it to get a few petrol vouchers

Not 100% sure if this is the right thread but think it is.

Prezzee have a buy a $50 Wish egiftcard get a bonus $5 Wish egiftcard offer. Max of 2 x $50 egiftcards per account.

www.prezzee.com.au/store/woolworths-wish-special-offer-gift-card/

I bought 2 this morning, cards and bonus cards got emailed straight away.

If you are not a Prezzee member there is a $10 Myer egiftcard bonus if you are referred once you spend $100. I have started a new thread with the full details of this in the Referrals section.

Saw this on ozbargain, so may not last long.

For those who have bought the Only1 Visa GCs, has anyone tried to use it/check their balance within the 24 hour period? eg. after 20+ hours?

I wonder why they have this warning - if an "inactive" card is activated, does that trigger fraud alerts?
[h=3]"Your card will be activated approximately 24 hours after purchase. Attempts to log in and check funds balance before this time may result in the card becoming invalid."[/h]

Purchased 20 today.
Used them. However as I was using them I dropped them all into the used and unused pile so had to check every single one of them.

All within an hour. So no problems checking balance

Thanks. Tried one with no problem, a couple of hours after purchase. I just write the date that I use it on the signature part on the back.

Maybe I should have stockpiled more 5.55% off Wish cards and then buy the Only1 cards as I need them...

Not had a problem using on day of purchase-have never checked balance though

Hi folks,
Pardon my ignorance and question but just wish to confirm and understand as my head hurts.
Buy "Wish" eGiftCard via Cashrewards, QTY of 1, stipulate amount. Pay using Amex (with highest points earn for shopping centres) with 5% discount of stipulated amount.
Take yourself to Woolworths, buy yourself Visa1 Card(s), pay difference using Amex. Use Visa1 card anywhere, such as places where Amex not accepted.

Have I got that right?

Not sure what you mean by 'pay difference'. There would be no difference to pay. Buy a WISH card for exactly the amount of the gift card you intend to purchase including any fees.

Thanks so much Dr Ralph, I understand now. Cheers

I wish we were not so detailed with step by by step guide about these points opportunities in an open forum, have concerns about either credit card companies or supermarkets closing the loopholes

Went to buy some Only1 GCs today through self checkout, then the attendant asked if I was buying all of them
I'm not questioning the person's intellect, but it was just me at the self serve - do people normally get asked "are you buying all of those items in your basket?"

Anyway, went to key in the numbers on the machine and what appeared to be a supervisor came up and had a look. I then got asked again "are you buying all of those?"
I responded with a polite but surprised, yes, is that OK? then asked if there was a limit
Was told there was a limit, but it was OK for me to buy them - 10 or so. There were another 25-30 left on the shelf.

Odd. Wondering if anyone has had a similar situation.

Oh yes. There is one store where they hassle me every time I buy the cards - cashier -> supervisor -> manager -> maybe a phone call to head office -> me for my miserable 5 cards. Every. Damn. Time.

At the other extreme - there is another store where they actually order in the cards just for me :-) ... 700 in May alone. The supervisor will close off a terminal and we'll spend a a fun 30 minutes putting 100 cards through each visit.

Perhaps you should try to go to the second one more often

wow which store orders them in for you? can you PM me?
I only want 50 or so..

Seven. Hundred.

Do you employ somebody to manage this inventory and optimal spending of GCs? Although if you can pump $70k into Gift cards in a month I'm guessing you you may have a full suite of PA's on tap.

i was assuming it was for the ATO

Yup, all for ato - 2 x smsf + company.

11 of the 16 digits on the visa1 are the same so safari (mac) easily auto completes that plus the expiry date. I think the sequence is ALT-V (for ato eft #) - tab - 99.46 - tab - 5 digits - turn card over - tab tab tab - ccv - enter - esc esc - click

repeat. Many times.

I also do 10 push ups every ten cards just to break it up. 100 cards and I'm stuffed !
