Woolworths gift card thread

anyone else having issues buying wish gift cards? I keep getting:

Bad Request

right at the last screen when i hit submit on my cc details. i've tried all browsers including phone, deleted cookies etc.
Got it a couple of times last night. But it eventually went away and all gift cards that I purchased before midnight have now been delivered.

I'm lacking motivation to get more. Anyone want to reveal the no. of their haul so that I will be motivated? I am not looking forward into using all these DJ numbers..

On about 100

Pretty hapoy

Will get more if I ve got enough egift and I can find stock.

Have had to resort to using the only 1s to buy more egift as I don't want to have too much cash tied up

First time I've done this

Took mine into DJs yesterday and got them converted into a proper gift card.

Anyone having problems with wish gift cards

Been trying to order since late last night

Coming up with payment error
Have tried two cards

Problem is It's coming up as processed on one card and on the trans history and funds deducted But not getting emails

Also
anyone had their only1 visa cards blocked?
I know the stupid T/Cs that says if you try and use it or even check the balance before 24 hours, they can void

which is a ludicrous T/C and very against at least one consumer law

ive just had about 4 out of 30 blocked

Bought a couple of wish cards just then without any problems.

Can't comment on the blocked only1 cards. I always wait out the 24 hours before checking them.

The terms for these cards are very clear. You risk them becoming invalid if you use them within 24 hours. My advice has always been do not use them/or even attempt to check the balance within 24 hours of purchase. It may be OK, but why would you deliberately ignore terms of a contract? I'd expect the merchant to seek to enforce their contractual terms which you agreed to when you made the purchase.

Well. I didn't even know of these terms until about 6 months ago Plus it's ludicrous and it's against consumer law as well
Has anyone had then blocked before.
I'm expecting to be a simple call on Monday to get it unblocked

Incorrect. Terms can be incorporated into a contract in a number of ways whether you like this fact or not. These methods, inter alia, include frequency or course of dealings. So because you have performed an action a number of times you are deemed to be aware of the terms. The relevant terms are printed on the packaging of the product and on the merchants website where you check the balance of the card. As you have purchased the product many times (which you have admitted to) you are deemed to be aware of the terms even if you failed to notice them. See cases such Parker v South Eastern Railway [1877] 2 CPD 416 for the enunciation of this clear principle. I'd encourage you to read this case to see the clear legal principles it provides and which have been consistently applied by subsequent courts. I acknowledge that things would be different if this was the first time you purchased this product as discussed in cases such as Thornton v Shoe Lane Parking Ltd. [1971] 2 QB 163.

I'd encourage to actually look at the law rather than simply hoping that everything will be in your favour simply because you think something is 'unfair'.

Incorrect. Firstly I note that you have failed to provide any statute to support your bold claims.

You may not be aware that the protections afforded to consumers under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) (formerly the Trade Practices Act) do not apply to the supply or possible supply of financial services or financial products.

There may be other pieces of legislation which have some impact, but these are not consumer protection laws and in any case you fail to mention them.

Suggest you get some proper legal advice before commenting. You seem to think you have an answer for everything

Before you get on your high horse. I didn't tsay that its illegal because I have done it many times before.

I'll have to dig it up.
Have discussed it with a few lawyers I used to know
Good luck with that. I'd get one of them to represent you in your doomed case against Blackhawk. I'd be asking yourself about the opportunity costs involved here, especially when you appear to have been misinformed about the law.

Well given I'm a registered legal practitioner with international expert accreditation in contract law, having authored numerous books and articles in this area, I'm happy with the statements I have made. But good luck on your legal quest against Blackhawk.
