Worse than feet on bulkheads

Well... it’s now many hours later and the flight is over, but not the adventure. He did “calm down” and resume a normal posture and seating when CSM reminded him that he needed to (please) *Open the window shades *bring his seat to the full upright position and *please remove feet from the wall of the plane.... before we can take off.

As soon as we were airborne the festival of “I’m at home on my couch” recommended. However he did at least sit straight during meal service... after that I didn’t really care... it was a short flight <2h), ce’ le’vie and all that :D

BUT..... He DID get the last laugh though.... as myself and 30+ other pax from this flight BNE to NOUMEA arrived to NO BAGGAGE - thanks QF. - and were told it “may arrive tomorrow but most likely on Monday”. And I definitely saw “Norm” and his partner get their bags off the carasuolle and happily depart through customs... so kudos to you mate whomever you are. I need a drink :) or three.

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE.... just to round out the days events... These pictures were taken by me, from my seat on the plan, showing the luggage wagon next to the loading ramp of my flight with MY BAG clearly visible and identifiable. I showed the pics to some of my fellow “we have no bags” new friends at the AP in Noumea and they were all like.. “Hey that’s MY BAG”... ‘There’s my bag...”.... So clearly something went awry today. Kinda makes sense now the 30 minute delay and “waiting for paperwork”. Delay to decide who bags NOT going. ground staff in Noumea said they were told the plane was ‘Overweight” and not all bags arriving.

Now is the part where I go all DYKWIA... and probably ruin all my good will.... but.... I would have thought.... that if there is a decision to be made who’s bags go and stay... that a Business-full-fare-paying Platinum customer passenger might be prioritised. Anyway there seemed to be no pattern to the bags that were left behind. I was transiting BNE from MEL... as was another guy I sat next to on the way up and he got his bags OK... another guy from BNE checked in at 7.30am for a 10am flight and his bag no travel either. Another group of three ladies from BNE checked in together and only 1/3 bags arrived.

I am just a simple human being, but merged threads confuse me at the best of times. I reckon the bag fiasco warrants its own thread. Quite disturbing.

Poor sod’s nearly as bald as a cyclist’s legs ... give him a break!

Not entirely sure what the problem is though. His feet would stink as much if they were hidden on the ground; and the only people inheriting his diseases are others putting their feet in the same place.

You can see from the photo how sweaty his feet are. I can't imagine the smell. At least if he had them on the floor the stink may have been a little more contained to the area around his seat.

I wear comfortable closed shoes and will only take them off on the rare occasion I am on a very long haul flight and in my own F Suite. Just basic courtesy.

Agree though that sick pax are far worse. Saw a kid in a domestic lounge yesterday sniffing, sneezing, using her hands to grab cheese and ham from the buffet. Parents did nothing and in fact sent her back several times to get them food. Needless to say I didn’t return to the buffet.

The worrying part is that some think that's acceptable as long as they're well behaved.

That's not acceptable.

@JohnK , I cannot for a second, fathom which part of their thought process would come to the conclusion that this was acceptable! Well behaved or not and regardless of class flown you wouldn't have to be a Rhode Scholar to work out this is very poor form. Totally unacceptable :(

Another one into the filing cabinet of entitlement and without regard to anyone else clap clap  right now Skybus Tullamarine

^ OK to be honest ... totally clad feet on bulkheads wouldn't offend me, I'm never sitting on the bulkhead. Sure, the airline has to clean it so flight staff would be completely justified in forcibly removing the feet of the offenders (and I mean from their legs not the bulkheads).
But someone has to sit on that seat, and the sort of person who puts their feet on seats is the same sort of person who walks around in poo ...

But doesn’t the same apply to hands? People go to the bathroom without washing their hands. People hold on to escalator handrails in shopping centres. Or hold straps or poles on public transport. And then they go shake other people’s hands, or put their hands on the serving tongs in the lounge, or on the stack of plates beside the buffet, on the tray table on the plane.

Feet on seats seems pretty innocuous by comparison?

My gross story of the week however... family with infant in the arrivals lounge, changed the infant on the lounge chairs rather than using one of the shower rooms available. Both parents were involved in the changing routine, and at most, only used a wipe to clean their hands after (just pushing the dirt and germs around their hands rather than washing it off).

To be fair it didn’t smell, but I was worried about the transmission of nasties like hand foot and mouth :(

But people walk into toilets with their shoes on with just as great a risk of picking up bugs.
Why double the chance of exposure?

If all the shoes on bulkhead were such a germ risk then people would be continually ill with gastro illnesses wouldn’t they? Maybe it provides some kind of immunity boost. Like kids playing in dirt.
