WP treatment in Y

I have yet to receive any recognition as a WP on domestic flights, both on mainline QF and QFLink.

The most interesting part of the day was trying to enter the Business Lounge at Syd. The lounge "angel" didnt believe I was me and had to sight not only my QFF card, but my drivers license as well to make sure, as she so nicley put it "I hope you arent using your dad's account". The downside to being a young FF perhaps?
Our kids have had similar problems, particularly the youngest one, who is quite a gentle girl. She complains bitterly that she is always told she is in the wrong queue and directed off to Y checkin etc, particularly at Heathrow. A few years does tend to solve the problem though :)

That's pretty disgusting... Check ID if you must but to suggest to the highest status of passenger that they are committing fraud is just terrible. It's people with an attitude like this who are damaging the Qantas brand and please ensure you pass on feedback (for what it's worth).

and given QF is handing out higher status like candy with double SC promotions, it's hardly unexpected there will be a huge increase in pax with status cards.

maybe QF thinks the 'golden handcuffs' are enough to keep passenger loyalty no matter how rude you are to them.

ID is a documented requirement for accessing a few lounges in the USA.

Several times I have had to show my PP in gaining admittance.

In the US it's most likely related to entering premises serving alcohol.

I think in this case it was more the dragon thinking the OP was carrying someone else's card.

In any case, I would not worry about it - unless the manner was more in line of a loynge Dragan than an Angel then it's not really 'disgusting'. The Staff member is just doing their job.

How old are you? I would of caused a scene if that had happened to me! How rude!

If the staff member ask everyone to show their ID then it's OK but we all know this is not common in Australian lounges so asking someone for ID just because they look to young to be WP and also implying they are using someone else's FF card it's very disgusting IMO.

That's why you should give your son the same name. ;) (we didn't, but it would be awesome to have a 6 year old WP1 )

The welcome call would be very funny.

Not at all concerned about asking for ID. It's unusual and not published as a requirement however I'd personally let it slide as just somebody on a bit of a trip.

However I do believe that straight out asking a passenger if they are not only committing fraud by attempting to enter using somebody else's details but also commuting an offense by traveling under somebody else's name is "disgusting".

I'm sure people would be very upset if a check-in staff member asked "did you pay for this yourself, or did you steal the credit card?". This is no different really.

Very poor form by the lounge staff.

Hence the term "lounge dragon" ...

It happens on the VA side as well, most if my travel is personal and when strolling down the priority check in line with SWMBO (also VA gold) and bubba in tow we have often felt pax in the general queue and staff staring at us like we are trying to use our bubba to get a priority check in.

VA agent in AKL asked me if I was sure my VFF gold card was mine last November ( even though she had my PP in hand!)

I'm 29 so not exactly young looking, helped along by what at the moment is a resplendent beard!

It must happen a lot for them to question it, but hell hath no fury like a FF scorned! At least if it were me anyway.

My kids love it when it happens to them......they flick the BP's so they can get a good gander and just keep walking. I've taught them well:D

If its a regular thing that other pax try to gain access to lounges by using the FF Card of someone else, I can understand the reason to ask the q. But surely if its on their BP it should be deemed acceptable. If it becomes a regular thing I might send some feedback, maybe the lounge lady was having a bad day?

Unfortunatley bass_ke, my genetics and being 23 dont allow me to grow a beard :(. Any attempt leaves me looking like a creepy mexican drug smuggler and would surely result in other questions being asked by the AFP before I got anywhere near the lounge.

back on topic.. :)

travelled on QF98 on Wed night, the CSM and Y Leading FA were competing for who could provide the most enhancements! got offered fast track twice (great but no queues in BNE!), noise cancelling headphones, several rounds of drinks plus a farewell from both :)

Rather nice, shame about the awful Y product on the A330 - rerouted through SYD on the way back to avoid and hopefully snag an upgrade

On QF449 SYD > MEL today.

The constant greetings, welcome aboard etc was very different to what I had experienced. Very positive indeed.
And even prior, whilst in the PB line, Nina was dropping the headsets in the grab-tray, she looked up and said to use in the line, "sorry for the wait, we will be boarding in a few minutes". I thought this was strange as normally they dump the headsets into the grab-tray and don't look at the pax in line.

And it felt genuine. May be it was because it was a Sunday afternoon, but it felt like genuine welcoming.
Nina, even went out of her way to say a few words at BP PB scanning at the gate, then again on board stopped by my seat to check everything was ok when I didn't select any food. I saw other crew checking on other pax as well. Very friendly indeed. A bit like when Virgin launched and the crew were enthusiastic.

Admittedly only a short hop Sydney to Melbourne, but if Nina was anything to go by, then a good step in the right direction indeed.

Travelled on QF51 today in row 43H with another AFFer in 43K. What are the odds? Had a pleasant conversation for 3-4 hours and good to spend some time with someone you know and share similar interests.

The crew could not do enough for us. The CSM and other members of the crew constantly coming around asking if we needed anything. Champagne, Bailey's from business, gin and tonic etc. Headphones from premium economy were already on the seat when I boarded.

The most disappointing thing was the very low load. There were rows and rows of 4 seats empty down the back. :( Premium economy was fairly full and did not take too much notice of business class.
