The totally off-topic thread

A social club I am a member of organised a movie night without the organiser reading the reviews. Some interesting discussion afterwards. Thing was, I had read the reviews and was thinking how 'open minded' the club was. Oh well, I liked it.

I actually liked it too, once I got used to the swearing.
Not hugely open minded but a bit shallow and would watch anything Leonardo DiCaprio is in

Whilst everyone else seems beset on keeping up with GoT, I downloaded the full series of Are You Being Served. I think watching it and laughing has prematurely cured my minor flu onset!

Oh to have such humour on TV these days.... especially some of the more eloquent sequences in which you wish you could go, "Well, that took long enough..." What is the old SOP...when faced with bad news, try to deliver it in the best way possible...

Mr Rumbold: Have you got the mid-morning sales figures?
Captain Peacock: Yes, sir.
R: Well, where are they?
P: In my head, sir.
R: Well that's not good enough. I need the total sales...and I need them on paper.
P: Well, here you are, sir.
[Picks up a pen on Rumbold's desk, draws a circle on a notepad]
R: What's that?
P: To those of us who have studied mathematics, sir, it is known as a nought.
R: What do you mean, "nought"?
P: We haven't taken one solitary p [pence]!

Maybe I should try and find a Swiss sitcom that I could watch to get acquainted with some of the social intricacies in Switzerland.

Come to think of it, do "Swiss" and "humour" usually belong effectively in the same statement?

My son tells me a new series The Vikings is shaping up to be the new GoT.

How appropriate...The Vikings and the God of Thunder. :)

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Look it up, if you must...

Is that the one that's been on SBS?
I think so - he does foray into the nether world sometimes.

The weird thing about GoT is that the surname of one of the families is the same as the origins of my maiden name - from the House of Thorald. Marjaery might be my great great great......grandmother. And if she marries a King and has a baby - well - I am Royalty!

MOVE OVER PRINCESS FIONA - House Tyrell rules! Princess Pushka it is. :p

Some say Vikings is better. And yes, it's on SBS. It's based on reality (vikings) although the characters are mythical and it is centred on one family ...

I saw season 1. Loved it. But then I missed the subsequent season,
