Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Well, they'd be stuck into the Champagne stocks, so we'd be left to our own devices on the Reds,..

Don't be so sure QF WP.. Of course a meal should always start with champagne but I have been known to devour a red or two :)
Can't wait for the Meeting with royalty evening.. Wish I was in Perth for that one also :(
Not to worry.. I'll live vicariously through AFF :)

Don't we all!

Not as bizarre as '1000 Candles' nonsense if you ever heard of that.

No, it's a trendy and arm-wavy Yarra Valley project. After reading about it at the time: Mystery of the Thousand Candles I must admit I was not convinced when I read what the varieties were.

Anyway, a supplier I use got about one case so I ordered two bottles. A few days later she phoned me to say it would be OK if I wanted to opt out of the order (without making any specific comments about the wine which I don't think she had tried herself at that point). It was all a bit indirect but she had obviously got the word but had to be very careful what she said and to whom.

I decided to carry on, but it was a mistake. I think it was a case of the Emperor's got no clothes. No critics were prepared to deride it at the time after the big build-up. It was Cr@p.

Tonight on VA471 PER/BNE:

Okay, I only drank the Tempest Two, but it was full bodied and got better the more I drank (or was that me :D)

Them the dessert wine:

Second time in a week and it would have been better by itself, as the VA dessert was too tart and doubt it would go well with the cheese platter.

Lovely day in Melbourne ... had an annual (small) punting syndicate soiree ... was good with satay meatballs ...
