Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Who said I missed a glass of red tonight - although it wasn't much of a bottle but I needed it after playing 4 games of indoor beach volleyball tonight, including one overtime. We lost in the final :( but did bring home prizes - yes that's a stubby cooler ;) )

Came home to this (nowhere as good as the Bin 389)

I do love my talented neighbour who makes these - a chocolate ganache and raspberry coulis lollypop. Put back all the energy I had expended tonight.

Cracked open a 2012 Larry Cherubino Cab Sav. Decanted for around an hour before consuming. Lovely oaky notes and plenty of fruit, a great example of Margaret River Cab Sav. I should have resisted the temptation to drink this again because I know it will get better in a few years time. Only downside is that I have only 3 left.

10:13 am in the morning, that really is starting early!

Friday Chardonnay Series:

Our two (dozen) cases of Mt Difficulty premium Pinots arrived this week and since the polystyrene shipping boxes are for 15 bottles, I added a few of these out of interest. Very nice. Needs to be cold but good mellow Chardonnay, nice depth, nicely integrated oak and soft melo. Drinking very well for such a young Chardonnay.

They wax lyrical about it here, a little too much, but it's good drinking...

To me, the whole 100-point system is an absurdity.

Anything less than about high '80's is considered utter cr@p. Ergo, what is the point of having the other 80 points?

May as well have a 10 or, maybe, a 20-point scale. Otherwise, revert to the tried and true JohnM scale - at least it's understandable and likely to reflect reality ;):).
