Instant IHG Diamond Status by Registration

I'm playing catch up on this one after unexpectedly making some IHG bookings for mid-year. A Diamond extension would be most helpful.

Is there an offer that's triggering the Diamond extension? Happy to receive by PM.

It appears from recent posts that it's as simple as buying Ambassador, but do I need to active or use a particular link?

Unsure. I’m a very infrequent IHG guest (work contract with Accor).

Some of the IHG regulars may know.

But with all the free status, rollovers, status keeper etc I really doubt any patterns are clear enough to know for sure.

Not a regular with any Hotel chains. But I can confirm if there are any changes to my IHG Diamond Elite come end of Jan.

I'm still showing as platinum despite 31/12/22 end date.
I reckon you are right with end of Jan.
Can do Ambassador to keep status or can get Platinum from WP Virgin status.
Wonder if I do it via Virgin will it get me through till end of 2024?

As Platinum IHG status hangs around a month after end of year (prob 5 more days) I can pay $200USD for Ambassador (don't have points ATM) and get IHG Platinum till end 2024.
I can leave it and drop to Gold with IHG and change back to Platinum any time while I still have VA WP status
House hunting at the moment so no fixed travel plans in place till that sorted.
Buy at the top end of our spend and little travel for some time.
Buy something cheaper and will do plenty of travel.

4. Will a member’s status change to a lower tier if they haven’t achieved the new nights threshold? For example, will a member be downgraded to Silver Elite if they do not meet the new Gold Elite criteria?

Yes, members will need to meet 2022 Qualified Nights or Points threshold for the relevant tier based on activity between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2022 to maintain their current status or achieve a higher tier level. Otherwise, their status will be downgraded and reflected in their IHG1R account in March 2023.

Ah, so presumably the Ambassador hack is in play until the end of Feb each year?

It assumes you’re IHG diamond from the recent very generous offer.

While the Ambassador purchase has conferred almost two years of diamond to many of us, I’m wondering if the end of Feb might seen them recalibrate and roll back the diamond.

So in my case, with just a single IHG night in 2022, they might drop me from Diamond to nothing, but I’d retain Plat as a benefit of buying Ambassador.

Make sense?

I think it’s unlikely of course, but not impossible.
