Ashton Agar has made history in the first Ashes Test - highest score on debut by a number 11 batsman. He and Philip Huges have also the highest partnership of the innings (currently 70). Not a bad effort for a 19 year old.

Can he make 50?? Can we pass the English innings? Amazing considering where we were an hour ago

Anderson to Agar, 2 runs, that's the half-century for Agar! He's the first No.11 in Test history to achieve that milestone. He does it with a thick edge along the ground wide of slips, it's collected at third man but they get back for two
Well Done - can Hughes hold his end up?

He's made his 50. Fantastic effort. Only 23 behind England, an amazing achievement considering. Hughes the sheet anchor and watching Agar - he's just hit a 6. He won't be a number 11 for long!

Where's Tony Hancock??

Now the highest score by a number 11 for Australia 67 (sorry Glen McGrath). Scores now level

Wow - current partnership is 98. Can they get a century? *Scurries off to look for the record*

Whoops, after seeing Rallo's post above, realised I'm 2 mins behind on IQ. Woo hoo, 3 4's in quick succession.

That will have deflated the Poms...

Last number 11 to top score in an Ashes match was in 1896 (which is likely to happen if Agar out scores Hughes - as he is now). Records tumble :D

Loving it! Vindicated my decision to finally purchase a TV (yesterday) that is able to get HD. :o
Motivated entirely by Ch 9 showing the cricket on an HD channel, and replacing a 23 inch CRT. :)
Just watched that Agar stumping review again - a cliche but it's a game of millimetres.
I really hope they can bung some more runs on after lunch.

Highest 10th wicket partnership - 151 (so we have a way to go - only 112 now!)

Wow, amazing performance.

As much as I can't stand the poms (especially their bowlers), good play to let the Aussies off the ground and acknowledge an amazing performance.

So Agar needs 96 to break the Test record for a number 11 , Lindsay fingers crossed for a century for both batsmen.

Even though I'm supporting the English, I think he deserves to score a century, before the second innings. Wonderful skills with the bat, though that early stumping replay was close, and I think he may have had his foot off the ground, if anyone can remember ;) they certainly took their time working it out.

Well it's vindicated as we had one go against us. Benefit of the doubt - I thought he was out (was 9-131 at that stage).

27 to go then after lunch (would love to think he'd beat Tino Best). But wouldn't it be nice for another number 11 to score it against England. Oh the joy!

Aussie Aussie Aussie - 100 each from Agar and Hughes and we'll be right
