Uncomfortable in what way? My partner and I have two long haul flights in Thai F on the 744 (older flat beds not suites) with 2E and 2F pre-selected. There were no other seat pairs available for selection as 1A, 1K and 3F are all blocked on both flights.

I ended up having to chase up the (somewhat) local AA office to get them to ticket the reservation when this happened to me. They were saying that as it wasn't an urgent reservation (for travel soon) that ticketing could take 3-4 days.

As far as I can tell, VA look to have either the same number of rows, or one less, in the same space in economy on the A332 as QF, once you correct for differences in toilet and galley positions.
