Myh understanding of the OPs position though is that they do most of their travel on FF points earned via CC spend, so it is unlikely they will be able to achieve enough status to get lounge access when not flying premium.

Yes, I was in the new FLounge last month and it is quite good, definitely a step above the interim lounge :) . The showers are very good and are shared with the J lounge.

Another consideration is that the QF108-94 connection does not allow enough time to sample the new TBIT lounges. Getting a shower in prior to the long flight across the pacific is really worthwhile in my opinion.

I recently made an award booking for J* *class MEL-BKK for myself and 3 family members and received the formal pdf itinerary for each of us. You are right that it would present much better as a gift.

I always just went to the cashier prior to filling and they usually just swiped my cc and then entered the amount upon completion of the filling. It would be easier if there was a generic code you could use though.
