$0 Annual Fee for Life on Citi Platinum/Signature CC Complimentary Insurance

Found this one to be a bit of a hassle.

Applied for the Signature card in mid December. Was conditionally approved upon receipt of all relevant information, received a few phone calls over the Xmas period about it... firstly to verify some additional income (bank interest)... as I was on holidays and did not want to send bank a/c information to them I told them to scratch it from my application as my employment income alone was more than enough to satisfy the income component. Received a 2nd phone call to say that my specified credit limit was too low and would I be comfortable lifting to the $15k minimum, which I said was fine. Apparently both of these in conjunction made the 1st application void and triggered a new application.

I was subsequently declined for the Signature, but approved for the Platinum (with the same limit!). All seems a bit unusual considering my verified salary was sufficient for the hurdles and I only have one other card at the moment with a $5k limit.

If you ended up with a plat with 15k+ limit then call them back and ask them to look are your application again since you have the minimum limit there is no reason they can't give you the sig... push a bit if you have to....

I applied for the signature card early November and received my card a couple weeks later. The only issue I had was they called my work to verify my employment. I remember on the application that it said to notify my employer's HR but I didn't know who to contact in my company. I received a call from Citibank that was transferred from my company's switchboard, Citibank said HR needs written approval before they release any details to Citibank. Citibank said just send two latest payslips and I already told them I sent it, he looked up their system and approved my application on the spot.

Citi can be very strange sometimes, they hassled my wife for a payslip a while ago, she took a while getting around to it but they kept chasing and in fact eventually approved the card when she hadn't sent it in.

I mentioned this previously but I never list any extra income as it's not worth the hassle and my salary is more than enough.

Having said that they did ask for 2 months of payslips from me and called to verify the information I provided in the application. But otherwise there was no contact. I also ignored the second email requesting info already sent.

I thought it did, regarding World Mastercard and same minimum limit? Maybe I'm wrong.

I got a Platinum card when my limit was $4,000, and a World card when my limit was $5,000. So definitely no limitation other than what the individual bank may require.

I did this, and was transferred to the Signature. Just had to call up another time after receiving the second card to have the $0 annual fee applied.

My understanding is Visa and MasterCard set minimum limit for all types of cards - it's just that some issuers enforce it strictly and others are flexible. Check any issuer's website and you will see the same min limit for each card type.

Is anyone noticing any stalling in the application process? I applied and was conditionally approved on 2nd December.
I received a SMS at some point (can't remember the date, but was after the approval) saying they were having some delays due to a massive volume of apps (haha) and they would contact me again soon

When I check my status on the website all it says is..

We are pleased to advise that your recent application for a Citibank Citibank Rewards Credit Card - Signature has been conditionally approved.

As a responsible lender, we need to verify your identity and income details. To ensure that we can provide your funds as quickly as possible, please notify your payroll department (or accountant if self employed) and authorise them to confirm your income and identity details when contacted by a Citibank specialist.

Citibank will contact you shortly.

I haven't heard anything since, is there a number to call? Nothing from my accountant either

Applied for the signature card, conditionally approved but need to send in ID and earning historical information. This is the first time I have been conditionally approved by citi as a sole trader so fingers crossed. Thanks for the original link / post to whatmeworry, appreciate your posting thanks...

Data point: Applied on Friday, last week, already got an alert from "My Veda Alert" so it would seem that my application is "in progress" and they're checking up on me ;)

Hang in there..... mine arrived today :D

Took a bit longer than I thought but then we have just gone through the festive season where things can slow down a bit.

All I need to do now is activate.

Haven't heard back on my letter of complaint that also requested reassessment which was sent to the credit cards team and CC'd to the head of cards.

Approval came through today - yay! Though weirdly the email doesn't mention the credit limit and you have to wait for the snail mail, but its Signature so it means at least $15k.

Now to ring up for the cheque tomorrow I gather?

I got my Signature card in December, still got to figure out how much I want to use this card. Minimum transfer to KF is 15,000 points/miles or so, i imagine it will take me a bit to rack them up (or is it in blocks of 15,000 so if you have 25,000 Citi points you can still only send over 15,000?) which is a bit annoying....

And still got to figure out how good the KF program is, or whether to them them to Velocity and book SQ flights that way...

I called and complained to somebody who told me it was 'impossible' to talk to the verifications team. This was after she told me they were trying to call me weeks ago but haven't tried since. After a bit more complaining and two transfers later I was finally put through to a girl who asked me a few questions (I'm guessing relating to what they can see on my credit record) such as who my banking was with, who i had a morgage with etc. Then she said that was all fine and 'final' approval was now being processed and I would hear back in a few days / or just get the cards.

Pity I'm going O/S tomorrow so won't be able to find out what happened with all of this until Mid-feb

This is a good idea, but it costs $85, so is there another way to get that access?
