Well, that's a good way to look at it. I guess I always assumed that no one rally needed to look at my file as it was 100% Ok. Sorry, OT a bit though.
$1.60 per week is a small price to pay to be alerted of activity on my credit file. YMMV

While it would be nicer if they allowed transfers in smaller blocks, keeping the points away from the reward programme does offer a bit more flexibility, especially since SQ miles expire after 3 years.

Virgin seems to be a real pain to book award flights on non VA flights, so if you're planning to fly on SQ then moving the points to them is probably a smart way to go, as you can book online and get the 15% discount

This free card combined with the Amex platinum edge is a great combo if you're not interested in QFF.

I've been able to take advantage of the 4 points per dollar spending on international transactions for a planned holiday later this year. Really makes the points balance go up fast.

I have to wonder what CB is up to giving away so many cards for free. Unless they're so how getting the miles cheaper than the competitors you'd have to think they'd be making a significant loss, considering you get the free travel insurance as well. I wish they had a co-payment option for the insurance so that if you make the travel plans in a way that doesn't get you automatic coverage you could pay like $10 a week for cover. Works out cheaper than buying the insurance and probably makes CB some extra cash too.

I'd say it is because the higher interchange fees on super-premium Visa cards make them a pile of money.

Wonder what they consider a high net worth individual

Haven't checked out the insurance offer with this card, but I have an ANZ Plat Amex/Visa combo card and to activate that insurance you just need to spend $250 on flights or accommodation before leaving Australia which seems a pretty low activation point, so will probably stick with that... I can also use that card to pay my rent for about 1 cent a point with a company that allows you to use a credit card to earn QF points with many rental agencies so will probably keep that up...

What i might do is move all other spending apart from the rent to this card to have some more flexible points as an alternative to just QFPoints with their recent jump in EK surcharges on redemptions... While you get 4 points/$ internationally, does CB charge foreign exhange fees on this spend of 3% or whatever, to me this would kill a bit of the value, while i have a citibank debit card which allows me to get money out and spend money sitting in the account FX fee free which i find very useful...

And yes by the sounds of it not sweeping to KF to early sounds good, but sheesh, 15,000 blocks are a bit for me, maybe not for the other big spenders... :)

My guess is someone who can afford to pay high surcharges? ;)

As an aside, I now see why Citi have stopped paying points on insurance transactions. It also explains why Citi upgraded so many Platinum cards to Signature cards a while ago (1.023% to 1.87% or 1.98%)

Really? So buying TI/car insurance/house insurance etc gets no points from Citi?

Wow 2%! they Would be making a bucketload , I doubt they Would be paying more than 1c/kf point.

Taking advantage of the extended deadline for this offer I applied this week. Since my application I have had four phone calls (including one my wife took at home) and four separate emails requesting a range of different ID docs and evidence of the figures I included in the application.

So good on Citi for being so tenacious in responding to my application, it is really appreciated after the glacial movement in my wife's Amex application a few months back.

However, I am now very confused as the lovely gent I spoke to on the phone (as an aside he took pains to explain all of the calls he had made trying to reach me... and I explained that I am often in meetings or travelling and my phone can't always be on to take his calls) said it was all sorted except they need something to show my 'other income' (another aside, someone in this thread said they didn't bother including this any more, good tip but too late for me this time i'm afraid.) but the four emails all include a variety of different requests, and they seem to have been sent oblivious of the fact that I have spoken to them on the phone and have already received the other emails (although, I hadn't responded within hours - am I just slow ?). All seems like a bit of a shambles.

I've sent off the 'other income' details, wait and see...

I applied on Friday last week, had an alert from veda but other than that its been all quite with no calls or email from citi. So who knows what all that means :what:

Running the gauntlet Shintaro10x with Citi. Expect the worst and then enjoy the best. You need to have a bit of tenacity and once you make it try to only ever call them to transfer points despite your wish to call them about something else.
Currently they are in my good books by sending me a bottle of Verve for my birthday but that is part of Citi Select with a $700 fee.

no, it is "fee free".

Actually, the offer is $0 annual fee for life, with a yearly saving of $199 for plat and $395 for sig. It does not mention anything to do with supp cards, but given the wording, my guess would that their normal fees apply.

Given a few credit providers are offering fee free or low fee for life at the moment, am wondering if this is a move to try and lock consumers into a card in advance of the advent of comprehensive credit reporting. Certainly the experience overseas is that CCR leads to more competition in the market, something we will all no doubt cheer on!

Or they are trying to get everyone to sign up then change the points earning ratio in the near future
