I cannot help thinking that if AMEX decide that a transaction is abuse, that the transaction should be cancelled or disputed.

It is not right for AMEX to say that a transaction is 'good' enough to allow it to be billed/paid & collect interest and yet not be a legitimate everyday transactions.

Lets be realistic...if Amex allowed bill spiltting..everyone would be paying every bill in as small an increment as possible...earning Billions of points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sending Amex bankrupt....with no one then get anything as amex would have no choice but to cease it.

So lets not be too greedy.

This is am amazingly generous promotion...

Be grateful that you are in it and lets not be too greedy.

Totally Agrees with u.

Let's don't make AMEX change their idea again :(.

One question, i got one Plat Charge and Plat Credit, both of these two cards are linked into one MR account, will the transactions occured by both cards countable ?

Thanks

I didn't mention bill splitting, that is what you were thinking - not me.

My concern is that my service provider, AMEX, is now wanting to vet my incoming bills.

How about you send me copies of your bills & statements. I will vet them and post a summary back here so others can really know that you are doing as you say.

Re: The real Unlimited deal BACK

Great Finally a decent and clear T&C for the Pre-20th.
Make sure you take a screen print, save to file, print to PDF or whatever you can do to keep a copy.

This clears up pretty much everything, Except for the abusers

This will come as big worry for those who had enrolled and earned points in more than one promotion. For sure Amex will SUBTRACT those points out. Even if they transferred the points out, AMEX will deduct them from FUTURE transactions.

I don't see any change to the T&C's, just some Q&A's that clarify what they mean from the Amex point of view.

Well, now we have the real Unlimited deal BACK

The Unlimited deal never went away.

Re: The real Unlimited deal BACK

The website went down on the 20th Sept ? So therefore I must have signed up online before the 20th ?

Reason I ask is that I signed up a few other MR accounts for this but didn't print the date/time and the confirmation page for these.

My account is fine :) But not sure about the others

OK, looks like I've been POC'ed too...

Here's my story:

1. No postcard.
2. Registered for all three offers pre 20 Sept
3. Called on same day to keep the 5K/5T offer only.
4. 50 transactions from registration to end of Sept
5. Received 45K points in total since the flow of bonus points stopped.
6. 35K points removed yesterday with two narrations of:
07/10/2008Group - POC High engaged V20-10,000-10,000
img_clear.gif
07/10/2008Group - POC Low engaged V20-25,000-25,000

I just spoke to Amex. My situation is this.

Plat charge card x 3
No postcard
Enrolled 5/5000 on 18 Sept
Enrolled for another promo 19 Sept
Rang Amex and cancelled second promo 19 Sept
Confirmed with Amex 19 Sept I am on 5/5000 only.

Gained 55,000 bonus points over a couple of weeks.
Bonus points stopped accruing
40,000 points deducted 3/10

Rang today and they clarified POC. Said it was deduction of points for having 2 "rewards". Whilst I was left with 15,000 bonus points the rest I have earn't to date will catch up in 6-8 weeks when posted.

He confirmed it is unlimited. He confirmed my enrollment date of 18 Sept and confirmed all in order, my points will post.

Thought it might help clarify POC.

Also good to hear CSR acknowledge unlimited etc.

Thanks for the update. Saved me a call to Amex today ;)

Although the biggest unresolved question is the legality of Amex retrospectively removing you from multiple promos even though there was no indication of not being able to tap multiple promos.

Luckily I have no burning need to use points so I shall wait and see.

May I ask how many transactions were posted to your MR account since registration to end of Sept?

You did not have too.

Amex obviously are not going to want to see every bill.

They are just giving people a chance to justify any suspicious (to Amex) spending.

It is your choice...you do not have to show them your bills....you do not have to try and justify the spend if you do not want too. You can just sit back and gain your normal 1.5 MR point for those transactions.

How about you send me copies of your bills & statements. I will vet them and post a summary back here so others can really know that you are doing as you say.

If you will give me 1000 points, or their equivalent in $$ (or flights), per transaction I will most happily do so.

Will you?

I personally think that Amex's condition on this is extremely fair and reasonable...and the "reward" generous..

It is obviouslly also fair and reasonable for without that condition it the promotion would be exploited way too much.

I duno. Coffee yes, but coles every day? Yes it's legit you don't want to buy it all at once, but will amex get desperate and say that yes you should have it
all at once? You can buy $5 milk/veg/etc every day but can also buy it once on the wkend like b4 the promo.
The vague 'spirit' of the program may say this is bad.

Some people do a weekly shop, some do more frequent shops. Some go to Coles on the way home and buy a chicken and salad for dinner.

Be serious. I go to Woolies most days on the way home to get things that have been forgotten at the weekend (or if we have diverged from the approved meal plan for the week) and that includes a side trip to Dan Murphy's for some Wine and/or Beer. If Amex challenge that then the card will definitely be cut into little pieces...

I think the problem will be people who go to Woolies 3 times a day for small things - but again that is still fine.

I really don't think that people will change their habits so fundamentally to earn a few extra points apart from for a very small sad few...

Who knows whether Amex will get desparate. This is the type of pointless speculation we have too much of already in this thread.

Examples cited by Amex are only bill splitting at the moment. So if you buy a carton of milk and arrange to pay it in $1 lots (so, multiple payments for a single item) then that's clearly an issue. If you shop once a day (I usually spend about $30-40 at my local supermarket which is on my way home every day or two) that's probably alright.
