Thanks, however as mentioned in the previous post I can't find my way to this page, or the FAQs from the home page. I'm just wondering what series of links people follow from the home page to get to these pages :?:

Other than a short period mentioned very early in this thread, there have not been links freely available to these pages from the home page. The point was that it was intended to be a targetted promotion, and you got to the URL from what was on the postcard that you've been sent.

As Beardoc said...you are not meant to.

That Amex did have a link for a very brief period was clearly a mistake on their part.

Apart from the points that they have awarded, or mis-awarded, making such alternative offers "public" has caused a significiant pool of it's customers to feel aggrieved or resentful rather than rewarded and special. Those who have missed out who were meant to be in ignorant bliss now look on with envey.

It is a bit like having three kids.

You give the first one a mobile phone and he thinks wow....thanks Dad.

But then you give the second one an i-phone..and he thinks WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!....and the first kid now thinks why did I not get the i-phone too as it is much better

And yes the third kid who got neither feels really annoyed!!!!

I feel like the first kid.... almost like I have been given a pie, and Amex has taken it back and only given me back a tiny slice that it has left out to go cold, and now it has an awful taste in my mouth.

Anyway, interesting point to note, have lodged a Submission with ACCC and have already spoken to someone, apparently they have had a very large number of complaints regarding the offers made (no numbers given, but the person I spoke to was very well versed in what has happenned, dates events occurred on, etc etc, and did say that the retrospective changes is something that under state and federal laws cannot be enforced, at the same time stating that the information provided cannot be construed as legal advice etc etc)

In regards to earning lots of bonus points, Amex promotes everyone of us to use their card ALL the time for EVERYTHING (where possible) to maximise points , and in this case many bonus points ;)

Don't change the way you spend, just the way you pay
You don't have to increase your spending to earn Membership Rewards points. Just use the American Express Card for your daily purchases instead of cash, cheques or another card. That way you'll maximise your points - and your rewards.

Yep to all the posts above!

Lack of sleep last night due to work, so I'll need 3 coffee's today over the period of the day ;)

Good pick up.

This is exactly what I have done.

I was just looking at my Citibank VISA statement last night......and it has gone from many transactions per day to only a few in three weeks!!!

In terms of cash I have not yet had to visit the ATM since the promotion begin, whereas I would normally to up my wallet weekly.

Interesting - I have found Pharmacies generally OK at taking Amex. Did you try and use Amex at the Doctor? .
Yes, tried it when we first took my daughter to the practice about 6 months ago and asked again yesterday - was pointed to the "cards accepted here" print out that clearly showed Bankcard/Master/Visa - she verbally said that Diners and Amex not available. Had to laugh a the bankcard symbol (so they haven't updated - but they didn't care). Had I been thinking properly, I probably would have also realised that the next door chemist also didn't take Amex - but the local Amcal does.

Still, I did have to stop in to my local BWS on my way home ;), to re-fill the fridge of beer due to my thirsty in-laws on Sunday

I had not realise that my wife's doc takes Amex (and the obstetrician) until I saw it appear on the MR line at the start of this promo (also the Hospital takes Amex for parking)
Another reason to get my wife pregnant :D. Now I'd better go and check out the merchants listing to see if her G&O accepts Amex.

My GP only accepts one card - the funny green coloured one (or two in my case) with the names of all family members .

OMG, too funny

Just lets not go down the road of the "Multiple" enrolments.... I hear that is against the spirit of the promotion as well...

;)

Maybe your shopping at the wrong pharmac_;)

AMEX have been very active in the pharmac_ industry recently and have joined up with existing banks who supply the merchant facilities to charge the same merchant fee as that of Mastercard/Visa and next day settlement.

The bigger problem here might be if twins result.....as that will be a clear multiple transaction when only one transaction was originally intended!!;)

However as the promotion ceases on Dec31 you might just sneak that through.....

... or having to split the bonus points in the subsequent settlement ...
