10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions

Those of us who have been taken off two of the three promotions (including the one that is 100% better than the others) have that issue to fight as well and waiting to act can surely only do us more harm.

Surely you can't reasonably think that you're entitled to all three earning rates at once?

If you want to go fight that battle, go ahead. But I don't think anyone would agree with you on a "resonable person" basis.

So why did you write to them ?

Because they have not credited me with any points at all since September 24. I have called them about it and they have given me time frames, such as all the September points will be in my account by December 12th. These timeframes passed, and still no points, so rather than pointlessly call up the CSRs again, I elevated it. Have a Case Number with the Ombudsman and everything.

If I at least had the October bonuses, I could book the return 'promo' rewards seats on Vaustralia Mel-LAX for around 68,000 points per person. For my family, that's a saving of nearly 100.000 points which in turn gives us a free flight for 2010. And I've missed the Velocity 25% bonus offer too. That bonus would have been equal to another flight for one of the family. Maybe its time to escalate things with claims for everything Amex's breaches are costing us.

true, I have just paid several $000 for a flight which I should have been able to use points for. I am owed 500,000 points plus and the 8/10 week period has expired.

So, I have a direct increased cost of several thousand dollars purely because they have not honoured their agreement.

The continuing obfuscation by amex just drives their customer relationships further into aversarial territory.

For many of their customers the hard earned feel good hubris has evaporated into messy aversarial argument.

Customers have been negatively categorised and effectively had their reputations besmirched, when they have simply taken creative advantage of a promotional offer from the card issuer.

This continuing debacle is NOT THE CUSTOMERS FAULT.
It was and is a major failure of the internal systems, process and management by the card issuer.

AMEX will pay dearly for all this .. and I predict the beginning of the end for amex in it's current form.

What crew is that? I have not heard of a 50K cap - only bonuses not crediting after 100T.
Whilst this may apply to some, it does not describe my circumstances.
I have received more than 50k points in December, with more than 100T.

Have been drafting a letter, but it is taking time to get something together that is polite and also forceful, and clearly states my case.
I was waiting for the new year (too late to finish the letter and send it out today).

I wonder if I can buy registered post letters today (pre pay them!)

;) Yes I was the same. I started mine on a Friday, but did not post the final version till a Monday.

First version blew off steam..but I kept modifying it to make it more professional and less hot -headed.

Final version was just polite and firm.

Re-stated all facts...key parts of the promotion (no min spend and no limit to bonuses earnt)...message onscreen accepting my rego...what the CSR's re-iterated....my postcard.....and then finally justified my spend (ie any multiple items) with a request that they re-instate me or precisely identify which of my spend was "unusual" so that I can then justify them.

If I get a negative response I will be off to the BFSO.

Issues in the credit market will affect Amex more than this. However, they may tighten up some things internally like sign offs etc.

Today Amex credited 5,000 points (which matches the balance owed to me for September) and 60,000 points (which matches my earnings for October) under the descriptions "Everyday Spend Promotion". Some action at the station!

Thank you, Amex people, for the credits. I am understanding about the short delays beyond 10 weeks given I expect it is a controversial promotion within Amex, and am very grateful you have left us all in it and not just cancelled it in late September.

(For reference I received the you-are-demoted letter and the subsequent 5K/5T reinstatement apology. I have not received a suspension letter.)

Happy New Year!

I got a similar entry today, that appears to be the expected points for October. Makes my point balance look healthier!

35000 points hit my account this afternoon....the first points to hit my account since they stopped posting in September. A couple of hundred thousand to go - but at least it is a step in the right direction!

I also received a point allocation today under the Everyday Spending Bonus tag. Can't figure out what period of time they match up to though, it is too many points for what I was still owed from Sept txs and not enough for Oct....

35K also hit my account today - maybe some form of good will gesture?

I am owed now -3,899 based on my T and the 10T/5K promo so I have to assume that they are paying out the 5K/5T promo...

I just received 110,000 points into my account, this is exactly what I had owing for October. I have also previously received 120,000 which was credited to my account at the beginning of November and the beginning of December.

Interestingly I also received the suspension letter on Christmas eve, I am very surprised to see points still crediting to my account.

Now if they could just credit me the other 180 000 points for November and 350 000 points for December and I will be happy. :)

Now should I go and do one last transaction for 2008:rolleyes:
