I have had no more bonus points post since my last lump sum.

@docjames Have you had any correspondence with Amex or communication with them about the promo?

I had to ring Amex about another letter - their beancounters can't find their money they gave me, whilst suspended, to go buy stuff on the 5/5 promo.

I asked when these bonuses were coming. I was told 'too many people enrolled' so therefore these bonuses will be awarded at the end of January. Phew.

Gee, I'm one of all those evil freeloading unvited people who caused all this delay. I should ask for an apology letter, but I already have one;)

Rang them two weeks ago and was furiously assured that all points will be posted "by the 31st January".

I just cant wait any longer - hurry up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not corresponded in writing yet - rest assured that will happen on Feb 1 if the points are not there.

I would be very wary of waiting till Feb 1 as there are various caveats under law which may exclude any claim of damages after a set date, which can be as short as 30 days.

Given that is how long the BSO have given Amex to reply to claims so far, I would be thinking that is the timeframe they have set.

Basically if it isnt worth complaining about now, why is it in Feb??? Whilst I was one of the first to have things dealt with by intervention, I certainly would not be recommending waiting and would at least be getting a case number by way of a simple complaint re clarification on what entitlements you are due.

Because they have undertaken (twice now) to have the points posted by Jan 31st. I am prepared to give them the chance to honour what they have told me. I am also prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt that they will come good for the points.

Others wont, that's ok too. For them.

I'll seriously look at cancelling my card if the points dont eventuate. And at the end of the day, that's a far better approach for my circumstances than a protracted legal battle with Amex.

I am just playing devils advocate here, not trying to have a go at you doc.

Do you have this undertaking regarding getting the points by Jan 31 in writing? Anything else and given what has transpired over the past few months who knows what is around the corner for us all.

I guess all in all I am thinking it is better to be safe than sorry.

Yes, I believe points will come through on the 31st, or by then, but what if they dont, how long will things drag on for. at least by having a claim in place you will beat the hordes that lodge a claim in early Feb.

I would expect there are a lot of people with your train of thought re cancelling the card if things do go belly up.

No offence taken - just merely my views.

At the end of the day, it'll be a lost opportunity if i dont get the points, but I'm prepared to vote longer-term with my wallet if they dont come.

And the undertaking was only verbal, so no chance of it standing up if I wanted to go further with it. Again, i'd rather just not do business with "someone" who doesnt honour their word, and take the "financial" hit in this case. If it was direct cash, I'd bother. I'll also bother to make a point to a business / person (even if it's only $2!), but I guess in this case,my hounding them for points achieves little to me. Taking my business away is more effective.

I agree docjames. I can live without the points, but not with a feeling of being cheated.

I have been very, very loyal to Amex for a very, very long time and this is the first and only time that I have ever had reason to question their integrity.

Perhaps I will argue for the points if they aren't credited in due course, then offer the bonii on this forum to the first taker and then cancel my Amex cards.

Even though I have no idea how to transfer points between accounts, I'll put my hand up for those points! This makes me the 'first taker' right? :)

There is/was a form on the Amex site. Basically one transfer per year, I think up to 50,000 or 100,000 points. Can't find it now though :(

Well...who else has spent very little on Amex since Dec31?

My spend has dropped off dramtaically.

However I am not boycotting Amex. It is just rather that after 3.5 months of solid shopping that I basically need very little!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And naturally enough a lot of what I need this month, or so, was purchased in December.;)

What few purchases I do have that can be on Amex are currently going on my Earth Amex...though my wife's card off my Amex is trickling a small number of tx through.

I've put through about 40 transactions so far this month. For me the promotion made no difference, I always put everything possible on the AMEX due to 1.5 points for every $1. Why wouldn't you

Normally for me too..as I am now in the main targetting SQ for flight redemptions.

But I am just short of two Oneworld RTW Awards with QF..so I am presently using the Earth Amex at 3 points per $ (4 for QF spend) to get me there.

In January:

Number of transactions: Down.
Average Value of transaction: Up

:)

Similar here - although that is more through some other choices than the fall off from teh promo. I have though stopped some of the smaller transactions when busy in favour of cash - tho I will get back into those progressively.

The multiple cards I had registered for this promo have had very little use since December. (All Amex spending is being switched to our new Platinum card.)

I'm now waiting on the Velocity promo - don't know what cards they'll be wanting points from (if any), but Citibank have a 15k minimum bloc for tfers to V so I'm just using that atm to get up to the next 15000 threshold.

I'm not using Amex til I see the colour of the last of the bonii.
