Those assisted by the government-assisted local community legal service and their pro bono lawyers went a different route: FOS sent their letters onto Amex whilst the FOS went thru its processes of opening a file and sending out an Authority form. It seemed to work very effficiently. But those linear thinkers who waited can't access the law firms' now-concluded summer clerk program or get bonii in time for V's promo.

Nice that it worked for you vet, but I reckon that community pro bono lawyers have better things to worry about than your inability to enter promos and competitions. I personally would be embarrassed to call a community lawyer over such a trivial matter, especially one with such a well established "'linear" path. YM obviously do V.

Well as the 30 day period specified by Amex is past with no reply from Amex I have sent new letters off to remind them of their defualt and from it my assumption that I am thus re-instated.

I will now see if any points post soon (the rumored Jan 31) and/or a quick reply by Amex.

If neither occur I will next week escalate it to the BFSO, as I have clearly followed the BFSO instruction to have contacted Amex first with their non-reply now officially making it a "dispute".

LTO - I wold be going to the BFSO now rather than waiting - you have done enough already I feel.

thanks..and yes I most probably have.

If nothing happens by Monday I will.

As I believe I have a large number of points coming I just want to do everything by the book.

I would imagine that Amex not following their own rules could only count against them.

I actually do not think the breach of response times/rules are relevant unless you are seeking compensation. All you want is for Amex to pay out in line with the scheme that you were and ensure that nothing was excluded as a T unless you agree. the BFSO wont force them to comply because they were late replying to you - they will force them to comply because they did not meet their obligations to you.

Thanks for the information Junji.

I spoke to a MR Rep yesterday. I queried whether they had received my letter responding to their ‘why did you split your bills’ letter because I still don’t have a response (42 days later vs their commitment of 30 days). She sent an email off to the ‘bosses’ who sent out the letter and were looking after these matters and would call me back later with a response.

She called me back today (and I congratulated her on keeping her commitment) and told me that the ‘bosses’ had a meeting yesterday and had discussed my case & letter. Apparently I would receive something in writing next week.

This might also apply to others so we shall see what happens.

Just as a side note, my last set of Bonus Points were awarded on 23/09/2008 with my last Bonus Points related activity being on 03/10/2008 (where I got POCed). So I’m waiting for a lot of Bonus Points to come through.

I've just got off the phone to Amex (having received zero points since 23/SEP) and was told again that all points up to the end of November would be credited by COB tomorrow (December points being 8-10 weeks from the end of the month)... I'll keep my fingers crossed but will lodge a complaint Monday morning next week if this hasn't happened...

Yes but the BFSO based on their website will not consider my case till I am in dispute with Amex.

While I am suspended....it was in terms of my having to show cause. Though I guess an argument could be that their approach was unreasonable.

Amex by not having replied within their time limit....now means that BFSO have grounds to conisder my case...with all its aspects.

Anyway Monday is not far away.

Just for clarification - ten minutes after my call to Amex (Membership Rewards team) when I was told points would be in tomorrow, a supervisor rang back who had been monitoring the call. He apologised for the fact I was told tomorrow (Friday), and advised points would be credited on Saturday (31st).

Ditto! But then I have different interpretation as to what a community law service is there for. Hopefully vet has provided them with a good (or greater) donation to ensure that the office can keep running and dealing with their core role - helping those who cannot afford lawyers with legal advice for important matters.
Hopefully no-one missed out on *important* legal advice because the law service volunteers were too busy dealing with this particular promotion/missing out on Velocity competition/bonus points/getting a FF ticket to Disneyland etc.

Indeed it did seem at odds with what others had reported here.

Our situations would seem almost the same, oif not the same.

So thanks for that.

Given that Amex dont tend to post points over the weekend are we expecting a rush of points on Friday?
I think that is being very hopeful. I wouldn't expect any bonus points to post early so more than likely expect them on Monday 2 February....

Mal, I and others work there a few hours a week. A family who fled Africa have their bonii and were delighted they're going to Disneyland. Being unsuspended was important to many who felt powerless.

I half hope so as that would be the best of both worlds in a way. First we get the full pay out then its time for punitive damages enforced by the BFSO ;)

So everything for Nov will be by the 31st Jan while all December will be 8-10 weeks after 31st Dec?

Interesting as everyone seems to be saying that *all* outstanding points will be issued by 31st Jan....

I might call them myself as I am awaiting points to credit so I can book flights for Dec 2009 - already missed out on Buss Class to LA as they disappeared after Dec 25th.... Some coming back from LAX to Melb, but not Melb to LAX...

Oh well :)

While I do not doubt the accuracy of oliverd's report.....Amex have made a habit of changing what they say throughout the promo.....

Just off the phone to MR (not the csrs)and was told

- Because the points come from the US, there's a time lag in dates so the Nov & Dec bonii will be allocated tonight and should be on the screen by Monday at the latest. [this is very different to some posts about Dec bonii being paid in mid March];

- Velocity has a 25% bonus promo starting 1st Feb.

- When rolling points and bonii into V under the promo, you have to choose a prize you'd like. 1 is a $150,000 holiday. 2 is a sports car (or cars). 3. 25,000,000 bonnii for possible use on a Galatic flight or other uses.

- If anyone thinks they are owed bonni from Sept and Oct, those should have been all awarded last month circa 31st December. They can ask the 'back room' to hunt them up.

Yet another falsehood/mismessage from Amex. If the points are not in my account by 31/1 I will complain to the BFSO.
