NSWhere,
Welcome to AFF.
You are of course perfectly entitled to you opinion about the offers, however from my perspective, and using your own words this is a way too 'combative attitude.'
It appears that you along with many others have forgotten the lines of T & C that include that they (Amex in this case) can change or withdraw offers at any time. You don't have to like it but it is legitimate.
I've also had points deducted.
when successfully signing up this arvo over the phone for the 10K promo, the amex rep was very clear at the start that to continue I must listen to the full T&Cs and I verbally agree that I fully understand them!
the 10k limit per month & 8-10week posting period clauses were re-emphasized!
just out of interest, for those who weren't successful in signing up today over the phone - which promo did you request and which 1300 number did you call?
I've phoned the Amex rewards customer service daily over the past 3 days only to be told each time that I cannot be signed up for 'myrewards' at the present time and today I was told to ring back in 48 hours when the 'issue' will be resolved. I phoned 1300 363 276
Should I be phoning another number or maybe try to go on the 10K promo ?
To be fair to Amex. I wouldn't hold it against them if they stop the promotion.
Because this is getting ridiculous. "NO LIMITS" if your spending was normal. We got people who are contemplating putting through matches and bread rolls, drawing up a strategy. It is like a hostile takeover of the program. (Anyone going to get reward points redeem it for cash then buy Amex shares to see how long before you eat the company inside out?).
Think about it? I think the minority has abused the program so now people who want to sign on can't.
Another change I made because of this promotion-we are eating out more. Pizza, Subway, coffee shops, any place that takes Amex. The charges are small but you gotta eat somewhere!
After I got my first set of 5000 points on my Qantas Amex, I did not receive any more points so far....
Just called Amex, this is what I just got.
As I called late in the evening just a normal Amex person was available but none from the "Rewards Team" , but I asked for a brief outline of the T&C, as I won't receive them as a letter, as I did , as probably most of us, never received the original one.
- Points are limited to 40.000
- Points are limited to 10.000 per month
- Points will take 8-10 weeks
- Everyone, who received a letter will receive a new letter with the new T&C
- Everyone who did NOT receive a letter, will be EXCLUDED from this promotion (don't know, if given points will be deducted). They will check, who they sent the letter to. So it's cancelled for the rest.
Looks like a bit of a disaster, like the majority being excluded from a good offer that now everybody knows of, knowing to be excluded!
Bit strange as the weblink is still there.
Received an Email from Amex called "Customer Service - Tell us what you think (Reminder)" just before I called them....
i think there is comfort in the mixed messages being received! Amex clearly do not have this sorted out internally so until this time no new measures can be pushed out to card holders registered for these promos!...IMHO!
Amex in all likelihood wanted us to use Amex as often as we could & promote their card. Many cardholders would have done what you have done and now (if all this points caps speculation is true) what a huge kafuffle on Amex's end.

Yep yet the VP of Marketing posted on here saying everyone that was registered would still be eligible regardless of if they received the postcard !
