10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions

May I ask - did you receive a postcard?

Yes - I received the 5 transactions = 5000 bonus points postcard. This happened some time early last week-ish.

I also called Amex to confirm I had signed on successfully to the promotion, which they did confirm, plus all the other T&Cs. I won't disclose the details here - there's enough worms crawling all over the place; in any case it is irrelevant.

So reading the last couple of pages, it would appear that Amex has stopped transfering Bonus points (but will still hopefully awrd tem down the track).

So a queston to anyone...

Has anyone received any Bonus Points today from the promotion?

By that to be precise (to remove any late posting of previous days) that when you look at your detailed transaction record for your points that shows for each and every transaction.

I had my last bonus points on 23/9

And despite enough qualifying transactions nil on 24 and 25/9.

Has anyone received a bonus with the date of 25/9?

My normal 1.5 points per $ are posting fine.

Thanks.

I am on 5k/5, no bonus points after 23/9 transactions. I have at least 10 trans after 23/9.

and yes, my normal 1.5 pts/$ is fine.

Regarding the unofficial (well... not official until we receive this in writing) cap, I would be interested to know if it's 10k/month AND 40k/promo, or just 10k/month.

If the latter, will they reverse the bonuses over 10k this month or allow us to keep the points (e.g. 20 or 30k) earned so far, and then switch to 10k/month from October.

No bonus points transferred today (last bonus points posted yesterday)

13 transactions have posted for MR this morning, average value over $72

Received card, 5000 for 5 transacs

If I have to wait, 4, 6, 8 or 10 weeks for points, then so be it...

yes, however they were added to my account for the period before the 24th, ie, yesterday it showed say 40,000 and today 45,000 and the extra points were added for 21 Sept. Also, I have added my transactions and the total bonus points added is correct. They just show up on funny days.

Note, I have not rorted the system, only change is paying Amex rather than cash for smaller purchases, lunch etc.

But again so far no one has reported getting points awarded today with a date of 25 Sep on them...only earlier.

Looks like the flow may have been put on hold for now.

Well, after 15k of bonus points added on, they seemed to have dried up.
I reveived 10,000 bonus points for the first 10 transactions and I am now on 18 transactions with no further bonus points. As we were discussing last night I do not see this as a big deal one way or the other. I will continue to use Amex credit card for normal MR rewards points.

Consumer Affairs and the Commission for Gambling Regulation are looking into a) altering terms after the event, b) fair trading contract laws overriding printed terms, c) charging phone-joiners $80 to join and later imposing a 10k pcm cap (if that's so), d) altering terms to differentiate between postcard recipients and those who learnt of the promo from the amex website, and e) why Amex might take 10 weeks to decide if people get points or were bill spliters. They've also suggested the Financial Services Ombudsman be asked to take a look. Hopefully Amex can spell our clearly who gets what and when.

There will be a nasty little sore festering if the above solution is it.

The in crowd and the out crowd.

The selection criteria for the magic postcard ... leads to... whats wrong with me as a customer ???

Ringing up and threatening to cancel might suddenly be more attractive to cardholders who perceive themselves of good value to amex .. and who are "out" in terms of the promotion points capping.

Sorry to say but you clearly have no idea.

Firstly no terms have been changed officially, period.

There has always been a charge to join the MR program, at times this may be waived, however a charge is advertised.

8-10 weeks point posting time has always been a condition.

Too many mushrooms me thinks

Have you reported that to Amex? They want to know about companies that refuse Amex but have access to process amex

Just have. Amex says it's their right to do so :(

about this bonus promo, they say it's still on hold (after 48hrs), we'll get an email/letter with info on new terms if/when it's done.

So no need to keep calling them or reporting u getting no points, cuz nobody's
getting points.

I fail to see what all the fuss is about regarding any changes.

as yet, there are NO CHANGES to the promotion, and personally, until I either hear from Amex via snailmail, or via thewir official website, I will take it that all is as advertised on my postcard received from them.

as long as they are added daily I don't mind what date they attach them to
:)

True...but I think you may find that they were late posting transactions that were made on an earlier date. (ie some businesses seem to take a while to put their transactions through. Maybe they are donne in batches??)

Once these stop (or go past the 24/ Sep for when they occurred)..I am guessing your Bonus's will stop being awarded.....but will hopefully show up in a month or two.

I just checked and the online opt-in page is back up. I didn't enter anything because I am already registered, but it is there.

Just because its written doesn't make it legal: google the case last week on terms being altered or ring the regulators yourself.

Link?

I just rang up and got the usual line about "Not being enrolled in MYREWARDS" and that the offer was targeted. Bloody Qantas Card

I logged in.
Went to my Membership Rewards page.
Clicked "opt in bonus"
A box comes up for a code to be entered.

Yes the page is now working at last - BUT if I enter 'myrewards' or 'mybonus' it returns the following message:
We apologise, this Bonus offer has now ended. Keep an eye out for our forthcoming promotional bonuses and remember, you can register for the bonus as soon as you get our notification, there is no need to wait until the bonus starts. That way, you will automatically earn bonus points as soon as the promotion starts!

Hi there,

I'm intrigued. Can someone please tell me why bill splitting is against the T&Cs of MR? A transaction is a transaction and if you choose to have multiple receipts for whatever purpose then that is at your own inconvenience and should not impact on your agreement with AMEX.

Sure, bill splitting will make this promotion more rewarding but ultimately the responsibility to limit the number of points awarded should rest with AMEX due to their ability/willingness to award points and not to prevent bill splitting!
