customer risk?? risk of leaving?

Oh, I lodged my complaint with Financial Ombudsman Service, for which I haven't heard back from them although I have a case number emailed to me. As with OnePath, I would send them a postal letter rather than email.

After writing a formal letter to NoPath I received a reply stating that my points would be posted by the end of August (didn't state this year...). Based on their pathetic customer service and unwillingness to honour their customers' published benefits (does this smack of QF Priority boarding?? :)), not only will I be lodging a complaint with the FOS, I will also be seeking a new home for my superannuation which I currently hold with them. This is a matter of principle - they don't deserve my money if this is how they treat their customers.

I started 2 policies, only one lot of bonus points. I've given up waiting the the other bonus points and I cancelled last week.

Hi all,

Just thought I may have some useful information.

I am probably one of the very rare people who actually signed up for this offer with the intent of keeping it. I have now paid 2 payments now, and not seen any points credited to my FF account. I sent them an email, and received the following letter in the mail today -

Hope you can see it - but basically it has confirmed that my FF number has been loaded to the policy - but it may take 6 MONTHS for the points to come through ??? I am hoping the "months" may be a typo, and they actually mean "weeks".

Not very impressed.

Cheers,

Brooke

Yeah they do mean months and its been 6 and 7 months on my 4 policies now and i ain't seen nada, so don't hold your breath...

That's correct. Hopefully it's not 6 years for a claim.

The terms and conditions of the offer, which I saved to my computer when I signed up for a policy, say for the standard points:

"The Points you earn will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer program account after each statement period, which usually takes up to eight weeks from when you pay your Eligible OnePath Insurance Policy premium, unless otherwise advised."

I guess you have been "otherwise advised." Nice.

It hasn't been eight weeks since I paid my first premium yet but we're getting close. I'm looking forward to reporting these people to the appropriate authorities.

I feel sorry for them because clearly a lot of people have signed up merely for the cheap bonus points. On the other hand, they decided to offer bonus points and we're just trying to make them honour the offer they made.

My monthly premium points have been posting about a week after the premium is paid, but only for 2/4 policies. I called them and they said that due to the similarities in the premiums being paid for all 4 policies their system was somehow missing out on them but I would get the points.

I have just paid my 4th premium (so 1 more than I probably had to under the terms and conditions to hold the policies for the minimum 2 months) so once the premium points post for this month I will call and cancel and start the process of chasing for bonus points. Will report my progress back here.

Well my four MONTHS since my first bonus was posted passed yesterday... and as if on cue, to steer me away from yet another call to Fair Trade NSW, the following arrived in the mail:

OnePath2.JPG

So they bought themselves one more week before I drop them back in it... Someone sure knows how to play this game well.

I did receive a similar letter too, but interestingly it says "10,000 bonus points will be applied to the above policies". I hope it meant "will be applied to each of the above policies".

I spoke too soon. Magically, 9 points have appeared in my QFF account today. It's only one premium but it's a start.

that normally means that they will claim you only entered your QF FF number for one policy and so will they try to give only one bonus. Prepare for a battle... I haven't heard from OnePath since my letter from the FOS saying they would contact them. They still have 2 weeks to sort it out before the FOS gets more involved though...

Check your QFF account folks, I just got another 2 10K deposits making it now 40K, thank you!

I called onepath to see what the story was with the one lot of points posting although I hold two policies. The agent confirmed that my QFF was attached to both policies and they will investigate why only one lot of points posted. I don't really care about the 9 points per month but I just want to guarantee my 10K on each policy.

Whilst on the phone I casually asked about the 10K bonus. I was told I had to hold the policy for 6 months and then it would post after two statements. That is a load of rubbish. I don't get "statements" so I presume they mean months. But I have a pdf of terms and conditions which say I only need to hold the policy for 2 months and the points take up to 4 months to post after that. I'll wait until I get another post of monthly points for both policies and then cancel so there is proof I had the number on both policies.

It's all worth it though with a $50 outlay for 20000 points; better than signing up for plat credit cards.
