10,000 Bonus Points With New OnePath/ANZ Life Insurance

It's a pretty good deal even now with the limit of 2 clearly stated.

Got my policy document but no points yet.... How long is it taking OnePath to post them into the QF points account?

On the matter of unpaid bonuses, OnePath advised DFT that they have someone now working on checking the status of Qantas bonuses, and made a commitment to DFT that they will get back to me in writing within five business days.

Any news yet on this? Would like a good news to start the week. :)

All 3 cancelled now with only 2 bonuses posted. Didn't bother trying to ask about a third lot of points, would have been too much hassle.

Why don't you chase up the last 10,000 bonus points and give $70 to charity? It's better that way if you don't really need it.

Would you believe my wife has had one of these policies for a couple of years now for the purposes of actual insurance? I wonder if we can get the 10,000...it was direct but with a group discount of some kind. I'll call tomorrow.

Not likely. Companies almost only ever give these bonuses to brand new business. They don't seem to realise that a bit of goodwill goes a long way for existing members despite the oft quipped line about the cost of securing new business versus retaining existing business.

Nothing in my account or email - but I'm on the West Coast, so have to give the snail mail a few days grace. If I have not heard back from OnePath by Wednesday, I'll be giving Brittany, my new BFF @ NSW Fair Trading a call! Got my case number and her direct line, so that cage wont be too hard to rattle.

I'll assume 10,000 points is equal to $70? Not my style, plus it appears that even though I signed up for my policies ages ago, they've changed the rules to allow a maximum of 20k bonus points, so I'd be out of luck. Easier to avoid the headache and accept defeat... And sign my mum, dad and sister up for 2 policies each... And maybe my dog, of course I kid ;)

I just got a free magazine subscription from MBF for having been with them for one year. Nothing amazing but a nice surprise all the same.

Well, it's a "good news - bad news" situation: right on time, there were two envelopes in the mail yesterday - refund cheques from OnePath for the premiums charged to me after I cancelled the policies (and the good news about that is as they didn't do an Amex reversal, I get to keep the 18 QFF points that they earned me. Woo-hoo!)

The bad news is there was no action or comment on the missing 10,000 bonus points. So I called the OnePath complaints line (1 800 500 229 then press "4" for those who need to use it)....

Spoke to Michael, who confirmed that my QFF details were attached to both cancelled policies, and he could see no reason why I hadn't been credited for both, so went to speak to his supervisor. I was then told it was a "system error" and that my call would be logged as a complaint, and someone would get back to me within 5 days. I even got a reference number.

So, while the progress is glacial, it is moving forward. I think it's a positive that I wasn't told I'm not eligible, or that my QFF details weren't supplied... and I didn't need to pull out the "Well I already have a complaint in with Fair Trade if you arent going to do the right thing" line.

The drippng water will wear down the rock.

Well done on your persistence! Keep us up to date of further developments - cheers!

In the mail yesterday:

It's now July, and my policy started in February, so the 2+4 months is not up for another 10 days... these guys are better at working the system than an AFF memeber, I think!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the thread. My wife already had a policy with Onepath as it happened and that is now linked. I also had been meaning to increase my cover significantly but could never get around to it. Apart from the 20,000 points (via two new policies) it was very easy to apply and I have finally stopped procrastinating so a good outcome all round. About 25,000 points in all in one day, nice.

G'day all, just thought I would explain my situation and ask a couple of questions.

My situation:

1st Brackets - Direct Debit Dates
2nd Brackets - QFF Credit Dates and point amounts

Myself:
EasyProtect Income $7.40 (19/05, 20/06, 18/07) (28/06 – 8 points, 25/07 – 8 points)
EasyProtect Life $8.68 (19/05, 20/06, 18/07)
EasyProtect Major Illness $8.85 (19/05, 20/06, 18/07) (28/06 – 9 points, 25/07 – 9 points)
Accident Cover Plus $8.15 (19/05, 20/06, 20/07)

Girlfriend:
EasyProtect Life $7.41 (24/05, 21/06, 21/07) (28/06 – 8 points, 25/07 – 8 points)
EasyProtect Major Illness $8.70 (24/05, 21/06, 21/07) (28/06 – 9 points, 28/06 – 9 points)

Cost per month $49.19
Total cost so far $147.57 for hopefully 60,000 points!

Spoke to OnePath today about only receiving points for 2 of my 4 policies, they stated that because all the premiums were very similar the system hadn't been able to distinguish and only credited for 2 of my policies, it is a bug they are trying to fix.

I have never received anything in the mail from OnePath and through the online system only 2 of my policies are recognised.

I entered my frequent flyer number in the online system immediately after signing up for all 6 policies. I then called to confirm that mine and my girlfriends numbers were in the online system.

It actually states on my QFF statement the supposed date of the policy as well, so it looks like I haven’t had points post from my first premiums on all policies either.

So I guess my question is should I cancel now that I have paid 3 months premiums (and been a member for the minimum 2 months) or to pay one more month then start the laborious process of actually trying to chase the 60,000 bonus points my girlfriend and I will be entitled too. I signed up when they didn’t have the 20,000 bonus point restriction and have screen shots and copies of the terms and conditions. My only concern is that it seems I have only started receiving the QFF points for the last 2 months, not 3, but my premiums and direct debits definitely show I have been held the policies for longer than the required minimum 2 months.

What would you do? Cancel now or pay 1 more premium?

Also looking forward to see how you go jukebox333! How long did you hold your premiums for and what points have you had post to your QFF account?

I signed up for 1 policy way back in January (I think) and received points on 3 monthly premium amounts plus the 10,000 bonus on the 3rd month, that is, when the 3rd months' points were posted - this was never too far after the premiums were paid. After the bonus points were awarded I cancelled the policy via a letter. Then signed up for a new policy which I think was identical to the first. Same situation with points and premiums and I have just cancelled the 2nd policy.

So for me I received 10 x 3 x 2 + 10000 x 2 = 20060 points direct to QFF from Onepath plus 87 points on the Amex for the premiums, and all for $58.38.

Woo hoo!

Pity they changed the rules...

I signed up in January for 1 policy and then Feb for 3 more, paid 4 payments on one policy and 3 payments on the other 3 before cancelling them all and still haven't recieved any 10k bonuses...

Lucky for them i am still on my round the world trip (even though i have stated my case through their website form while overseas) and won't be back till august when someone will get some phone calls!!

Most have received the bonus points on the 3rd transaction, not the 2nd, but it’s up to you.
I guess that is what I was trying to get at, I have already paid the third transaction as outlined in my post but it doesn't appear that points went through for my first one, so on the points side of thing it looks like I have only had two not the three transactions.

The whole thing is a bit of a joke. My experiences:

First policy purchased earlier in the year with OnePath (can't remember what for). Took ages to have them add my frequent flyer number to the account (wouldn't respond to emails but finally got them on the phone). After that, all went ok and bonus points appeared during month three. Interestingly, I never received one piece of paper from OnePath documenting the policy nor did I receive a policy number!

Purchased a second policy back in June, this time with ANZ. After applying, tried to add my QFF number online but the website kept coming up with errors. Called the next day and was advised that the policy hadn't come through yet and to call again in 10 days. Called 10 days later and added my QFF number. Six weeks later, no points had appeared all all so I called again. They claimed they had no record of me asking for my QFF number to be added  but would do it now and backdate the points. This was about two weeks ago, no points as yet. I raised a complaint with ANZ but also haven't heard a thing.

Better half also applied for one through OnePath in April. QFF number added during the application process. Still not a point has been paid to their account, called yesterday to check the number was recorded and it was, but they have no idea why nothing has credited.

If they can't manage the simple allocation of frequent flyer points, imagine actually having to make a claim! I think this has probably done ANZ more harm than good.
