10 pts / $ for Qantas Vouchers - Back for Xmas 2014

oh this is a little annoying to find the $2 is below tolerance and a voucher won't be issued - specially when one gets an email saying it will (or a message when making a booking anyway). The only reason I really cared is that I saw it as a way to avoid the (hopefully soon going) outrageous CC fee by using that $2 residual voucher (I would have the $2 left over from a MEL-SYD r/t I'd booked in the recent J sale) as the start of a new booking and thus avoiding the CC fee for the rest. I'll live, but I do think QF should communicate this.. even if it's an eail saying "Your voucher reference xx_xx_ would work out to $2. We won't issue this as a new voucher, but here are some options to take up..." kind of thing. It's poor if it just goes into the "bit bucket" and there's a hope that people either won't notice, or care enough to worry. Since my flights are in Jan, I was waiting till after they'd passed before looking to see the expected residual voucher show up. I guess I shouldn't hold y breath....

I had $1 vouchers reissued last year - it was a PITA and redroo assisted me - again to avoid CC fee - I think I MAY have the email address of the team leader who assisted me - will go looking and if I find it I will PM you.

QF email address format have changed, so it may not work if you do find it.

Plus the voucher should reissue immediately after it has been redeemed. There is little point waiting for the booking which now has squat to do with the residual voucher.

Interesting. I had thought about this and figured because the fare I booked with it was a flex/refundable fare that if I then made changes, cancelled or whatever, it would be more PITA to do. Plus as I understand the idea, the residual voucher is issued with the same "booking" reference (ie PNR) so you can't have 2 active in the system with the same reference I would have thought?

Thank you - that is a very kind offer :) I'll see how much it is important to me and what happens post mid Jan when my flights are.

I may even just email the P1 team or call res and ask.

on regarding res and vouchers when I called about another voucher that I wanted to use for a F fare, but could not book online (the web options specify Y/J... geared to domestic bookings one presumes) anyway the QF res person I wpoke to, when I wanted to verify if any issue fees would be waived for me (as a P1) she actually told me that rather than it being a P1 issue, that if you can't do it online, they would waive the fee as a general rule. Maybe it was just that agent but either way I was actually surprised. Transaction was completed in around 2 minutes (though she didn't attach my FF# to the booking, but that was easily done online).

No, the residual voucher will have a unique PNR.

That's normal to have the fee waived if not possible if there is a failure on line. Usually have to request it. As I mention in thread voucher bookings generally can't be changed on line due to the process making it appear as if one change has already happened. Had no trouble with the phone assistance fee being waived.

Also as mentioned Qantas gift vouchers issue a new PNR for each residual voucher.

Ah, my mistake. I misread the "same expiry date" line of the T&C.

ANyway QF sure know about it. I went back to the booking issued from the voucher in question, and it has a section:

Additional Payment Details (Refund)
Date Payment
Type Reference Amount*
19 Nov 14 Voucher -2.00

yeah, well I have no new voucher email or anything.

when I can be bothered I guess I will call or something. bleh.

"When I can be bothered" are definitely the key words. I certainly see not bothering about $2 as a valid option. Even if I did bother about 2x $3.99.

I will be bothered on the principle of the thing. If they don't issue I will be initiating a credit card chargeback for the remainder that was never reissued. That ought to sting QF's merchant account to the tune of $20 or so if successful in chargeback fees.

Ignore customers at their peril.

Have they become any quicker issuing the points on these?

not that I've seen. Having purchased several in mid November after the promo started, still no credit. Still, it's only been 4 week and the fine print says 6-8 or something like that.

oh and yes, I can be bothered. My choice of phrase was poor (I couldn't be bothered thinking of anything better :) )... like a previous poster I'm most wanting it for the CC saving (yeah I'm cheap) but the principle of it absolutely get sup my nose - specially when it states in the T&C the voucher will be issued, and again in the PDF for the booking I made (as I posted above) that the refund will be issued as a coucher it is very clear that I am owed.

Right now I'm a bit time poor to chase this up but I will before the end of January for sure :) I paid my $$$ and I expect full value out of that.

I'm onto buying them today.

Interestingly, I knew I had a residual voucher created after a previous voucher wasn't fully utilised. I note that whist the view says:

30 Dec 2014
Gift Voucher

upon opening the booking, it says:

Your voucher is valid until 24 December 2014 .

Which do I believe??

Given the speed of Q - Dec 24.

I have a similar one. Voucher expires 31 December but on opening booking expiry date is 25 December.
