After reading the dubious comments mid November about problems, I went ahead and purchased $600 worth. I used them a couple of weeks ago against 2 x J tickets SYD-LAX and just this morning found the 6000 bonus points in my FF account.
I certainly had no problems and hope they come back again soon

Gift vouchers are available all year. Just the bonus points offer has only happened during Christmas in the last few years. You can still get bonus points until 31 December.

Yes, thanks, I was meaning the bonus point opportunity. I just don't have the funds to purchases ATM

Hmmm are we sure the work experience IT guy is on leave

Purchased a voucher today 25/12 with a expiry date of 10/12 ....

Wont call today... but will in the new year

I believe JohnK is pointing out that VA use a third party supplier for the vouchers - Giftvouchers.com (see absolute bottom of screenshot):
Correct. Wright Express. I was just going to go through my credit card statements.

The loss of ~950 Amex points is more than offest with the $50 saving from Entertainment book and the continued saving by only paying the credit card booking surcharge once per gift voucher.

Being able to book multiple one way flights on the same route using VA multicity allows pretty good leverage of the credit card fee which tends to negate the point of a voucher.

Is it a bug or.... a limitation somehow?

It suddenly occurs to me that just as you can only book flights ~350 days (or 351 or whatever) out due to limitations (I think) with the GDS and so on, and given vouchers are basically issued as PNRs, then perhaps the same limitation applies?

Is any member with a voucher able to check if these vouchers can be used on EK metal with a QF flight number?
specifically:

ADL - DME
07/04/15 (QF8441 and QF8133)
return
28/04/15 (QF8134 and QF8440)

I want to buy a $2000 voucher to redeem for these flight, but obviously don't want to spend $2000 on a voucher, to later find out I can't use it for the flights I need!

thanks for your help medhead!
Am I correct in assuming there is no variance in price between booking direct vs with a voucher?
regular booking price was $1789

And the bonus is no CC fees :D so it's slightly cheaper....

and yes, no issue booking EK metal/QF code with vouchers - the key is the QF# since it's a flight sold by QF as a Qf flight so vouchers all good to issue on 081 stock.

I'm flying on one in a few days

The search I did also showed the EK flight number in at least one direction. But of course don't take EK numbers if full earning is required.

The T&C state the booking must be made before the expiry date on the voucher. Does this mean the flight must also be taken before the expiry date or just the booking made. e.g. the voucher expires 4th Sep 2015, Do I have to book and fly by the 4th Sep 2015 or can I make a booking before 4th Sep 2015 for a flight in 2016?

You just have to book before the expiry date.

Yes, my (2013) $11 voucher with an expiry date of 24 December has disappeared from My Bookings. Oh well, I bought another $1K in vouchers this morning to make up for the disappointment. 25,000 points should help towards my upgrades on those flights.

And now we know why AJ claims QF has turned the corner profit wise :D :D :D that $11 makes all the difference!
