10 pts / $ for Qantas Vouchers - Back for Xmas 2014

Tally for me so far:

7 vouchers purchased 23-Nov, all partially used, none fully used: all points posted 24-Dec.
1 voucher purchased 5-Dec, not used so far, no points posted yet.
4 vouchers purchased 29-Dec, none used so far, no points posted yet.

Personally I doubt points for a purchase on 20 December came in 4 days later. But it is well worth remembering that the standard wait is 8 weeks (or something like that). Qantas has set the standard at about 4 weeks with the November voucher points coming in December. As such I'd suggest looking ago around Australia Day.

I suspect that they will do another run near the end of Jan which should clear up all outstanding points till 31Dec :)

I bought my 8 vouchers in 2 batches ....

4 vouchers on a couple of dates in late November - 1 used
6 vouchers on 30/12 - 0 used

No points for any so far.

And here ^^^ is the beginning of the 'catch' that voucher newbies were wondering about.
Keep the use of vouchers simple and there won't be any catches.

The vouchers are not meant to be used for multi-city, EK First flights, bookings originating anywhere other than Australia and strictly 1 voucher per booking. Now if someone has had a different experience it is because someone has bent rules for them and the same thing should not be expected by others even if you hang up and call again.

OK I've been away for a day or so and just caught up on this little interchange. I had planned to let it go, but frankly this is too much for me. I'm hot and irritated so fine, I'll answer.

You "suspect" and while you didn't insult me, you've basically suggested a QF agent lied to me.
That's insulting the agent, who you don't even know because I've not given any names (thank goodness!)
Please don't take this the wrong the way but I have absolutely no faith in what a customer service agent tells me. They lie all the time. They lied to me recently when I was chasing up bonus points.

I suspect that they will do another run near the end of Jan which should clear up all outstanding points till 31Dec :)
Did you miss the fun last year? ;)

I wonder if QF have looked at a similar promo in June, when folks are looking at maximising deductions?

I disagree, in part. The T&C do clearly say no multi-city, and that's fine, but saying a voucher shouldn't be used for an EK F flight ex-AU is perfectly fine in my book. If it's booked via QF and in AUD why not? I don't see the fact that multiple agents have been happy to book these for folks as someone bending the rules given you CAN do Y and J online just fine.

I do agree that wanting to use vouchers to pay taxes on FF awards or more than one voucher per booking and all that no that's not the intent. They are flight vouchers for "QF" flights imho

and I partook in the promo last year but didn't have any of the "fun" so no I was not directly involved in that. It all went swimmingly for me. I do understand there were not so great experiences. Seems that QF has cleaned up the system/promo this year which is great for everyone :)

Unfortunately there is no such thing as keeping it simple when dealing with the QF website. There are plenty of catches and someone who is not experienced can end up loosing a lot of money.
Just recently I was trying to book BNE-AKL J one way using voucher, sounds very simple right? Well, the cheapest option on the website was flexi ticket. The price seemed a bit too expensive for this route so I opened another window and checked how much a revenue ticket cost. Lo and behold there was a sale fare on that route on that day almost 30% cheaper! I called QF Premium and they booked the sale fare for me in 2 minutes.
The question is how many others just kept it simple and booked online...

You CAN book EK F, you CAN book NZ-AU and you CAN use up to 4 vouchers for one booking, just need to do all that over the phone because booking options on the QF website are limited.

I had the same experience, as reported earlier in this thread. Seems like it is common on the trans tasman fares. I suspect it has caused others to pay more than they had to or lost QF business. The website practice ensured Qantas lost revenue on my fare because I did not try ringing I just booked a "whY" over to Auckland and J on the return. Had the J sale fare been offered on the website I would have spent the extra $$'s.

Only EK F in the above scenario is within the T&Cs of the product, the others are largely at the operators discretion and by no means guaranteed as they are outside the T&Cs. YMMV.

I use a lot of vouchers on regular basis and never had any problems combining up to 4 of them in one booking. This is something I was told by the agents, not requested by me. I would be interested to hear any experiences from other members who were not allowed to use more then one voucher when calling to book. I'm not saying it can't happen, I just find it hard to believe that so many different agents I speak with on weekly basis keep giving me the same supposedly wrong information.

No boomy! You, as a Platinum One, can book flights originating outside of Australia using gift vouchers. The majority cannot.

I was talking ONLY about flights NZ-AU. Please call QF and try to make a booking, if they tell you only P1 members can do it then I stand corrected. And while you are talking to them please ask to use more then one voucher, maybe you think that's a specific P1 benefit as well. I'm really interested to know because I may have to ring QF later and ask them to promote my gf to P1 immediately as she managed to do all the above while she is "only" WP.

While I don't doubt you are being looked after, the conditions state:

Redeemable for one-way or return Qantas domestic or international flights departing Australia only.

Non-refundable and cannot be used for multi-city, Classic Award or Any Seat Award bookings, points plus pay bookings or redeemed for cash or other goods or services such as additional baggage or seat selection.

Only one voucher can be redeemed per booking.

Amounts are in Australian dollars and are valid for bookings made on or before the expiry date stated on your voucher.

If the total of the booking is more than the value of the voucher, immediate payment of the balance will be required at the time of booking.

The names of voucher recipients may be changed when you redeem the voucher.

Qantas Gift Voucher - additional terms

Vouchers will be valid for 12 months from date of issue.

If the full balance of the voucher is not redeemed in one transaction, a new voucher with the same expiry date will be issued for the unused portion of that voucher. Subsequent vouchers will be sent to the email address supplied for the first adult listed on the voucher. If no email address is supplied for the first adult listed on the voucher, subsequent vouchers will be sent to the email address of the person who purchased the voucher.

The number of people on a booking redeeming the voucher must be equal to the number of voucher recipients.

The number of recipients listed cannot be changed.

Vouchers can be redeemed online at qantas.com/giftvouchers or through Qantas Contact Centres on 13 13 13.

A booking fee applies to redemptions through Qantas Contact Centres.

So while it's great you are getting special privileges, they are under no obligation to give any of us any of those things you mentioned.

You may want to read my post again, I know personally someone who got it as WP plus a few others who told me they also got it and they are not P1s. Adding that to the information received by QF agents (it was posted by someone before) regarding flights ex NZ I don't find any evidence to support the theory that it's a special P1 benefit.
Instead of being negative (not aimed at you personally) why not try to use information other members post to achieve things that you didn't know or didn't think possible.

Come on now. Wouldn't want to listen to other experiences. The terms and conditions say it can't happen. Therefore, all those experiences never happened. I'm exactly the same way I've never used vouchers to book a trip to multiple cities.

I don't doubt you and think that's great. They are under no obligation to do any of those things, however.

It's great that people are having outside T&C experiences.
