10 pts / $ for Qantas Vouchers - Back for Xmas 2014

Finally received residual vouchers today despite first raising this with QF in November, however they have taken the residual value on 5 vouchers and issued a single voucher.

The voucher masters on this thread will see the issue with this approach...

Anyway, it only took 5 months to get the value back, perhaps I should be grateful to have received anything at all.

Glad to hear in the end. I can't really see too much of an issue with the combined voucher provided the original vouchers were all in your name only. I can't imagine any bonus offers still being valid. The expiry date might be too early. But if you needed 4 extra vouchers it's easy enough to buy them.

Expiry date is 12 months from today so not too bad. The only problem with lack of multiple vouchers is the CC fees I could have avoided ;) of course I could just buy some more...

What was the value of each voucher? Any $2 or less?

Yes, some the princely sum of $4.

Got the "customer care voucher conditions" excuse trotted out ad nauseum, even though it didn't apply to these.

Finally a lady called today and admitted there were system issues with low value reissues. Duh.

Yes, you lose the ability to save $30.80 ($7.70 CC surcharge x 4) on those future bookings had they been separate residuals.

ok I know its not Christmas yet, but just a quick question. Do you earn qantas points when buy gift vouchers redeemable for flights on this site? Buy a Gift Voucher | Qantas

it does say "unique experiences vouchers" earn 3 QF points per A1 spent. I am uncertain about the 'flight vouchers'. cheers :)

Except you can always just buy another gift voucher (x4). Minimum cost $50, I can't think of any fares that are less than $50, so not much risk of being stuck with an unrequired residual from the new voucher.

12 months of repeated hassling didn't get me anywhere....

7 PMs to RedRoo were required before there was any noticeable action on their part.

I think they're hoping people forget them and the bank the free revenue. That's how the voucher industry works...

Argh! Just used one of my first residual vouchers for 2015. Booking can't be accessed on line!!! This means I have to call to get those codes removed, still!!! I thought this was fixed.

If you don't need to view MMB immediately, it usually fixes itself overnight. I haven't been able to work out the timing/frequency of the job which runs to fix these, but I have had it work such that if I book a flight in the morning, it can sometimes be accessed later in the day/evening.

It is "fixed", you just have to wait overnight usually. If you want to Manage the booking straight away, yes, you have to call up.

Whoops. Forgot that fix.

Thought I'd share my experience here with Qantas vouchers.

In the past, I've been very happy buying vouchers, and booking numerous flights, mostly when there's a domestic fare special. I've had no issues buying a larger voucher ($1500 or so) and then reusing the residuals multiple times to book many flights. The residuals were always sent out 5-15 minutes after the last booking (luck??).

Recently tried this strategy and it has been very, very painful indeed. The residuals have taken multiple days to get sent out (and normally only after a call to Qantas customer care to try and speed things up). There is no explanation from customer care except that it is a manual process to issue the residuals. Looks like I will miss out of booking the flights I want while the current sale is on so have asked for a refund of the last voucher residual so I can just book the flights directly (using cc or bpay). I doubt my request will be granted, I guess I'll just have to chalk it down to experience.

Going forward will definitely either:
1. Avoid Qantas vouchers altogether.
or
2. Only buy vouchers for amounts less than the expected fare (as recommended by other posters).

Oh that's interesting to hear. I booked flights using residual vouchers as recently as 30-Apr and 04-May, and in call cases, the next residual value voucher has been received within the hour of booking.

I've been very happy this year and have not had any problems. Mostly I've been able to wait for the auto-job to fix the MMB issue (have rung up a couple times when I've wanted to apply for an upgrade immediately etc.).

Of course, with these things, YMMV.

I used 2 new vouchers yesterday and the residual voucher was in very quickly. In fact one residual was in my inbox before the booking confirmation email.

However, to prevent issues with residuals being issued I have multiple vouchers on the go at any one time. Last December I purchased 3x$100, $200, $250 and 5x$500 vouchers. Ten vouchers in total. I'm now down to 5 residual vouchers. After using 2 new vouchers and finishing off one residual yesterday.

Once that lot are gone my usual approach is to buy a $50 as needed.
