10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers are back!

Apologies if I was not clear in my previous post but what I meant is when the value of the voucher does not fully cover the costs of the flights (e.g. using a voucher with $10 remaining to purchase a flight for $99). QF's system will happy take your voucher and your $89 but for some strange reason will not process this transaction automatically without some sort of human intervention.

Those bookings will still show up in the MMB section but with a remark to contact the QF call centre to 'redeem the voucher'.

My experience with subsequently issued vouchers was the system would not even recognise the voucher as valid to allow me to search for flight. Regardless of value not useable without a call, couldn't get to the stage you describe.

... I get it. I'm in the same boat.....
Ok, I understand.

So it could have been put better - ie. By putting up with regular calls to Qantas you can earn more points.

One earns 10 QFF points per dollar on the entire airfare expenditure rather than just the part a voucher value covers if less than the total cost.

e.g. Using a $50 voucher for a $79 fare returns 500 points from voucher usage on that fare purchase. Using a $500 voucher for the same fare purchase returns 790 points.

Not sure. But voucher bookings show up in my business reports when adding the ABN

Hey Medhead,

Just wondering how you added your ABN number? It didn't ask it during the buying process. Is it able to be added on later? or?

Using an ABN in the Acquire deal makes no difference to use of vouchers?.

What he said. ;)

A bit painful adding it later.

Weird.... Is there a lag in it appearing in the "My Bookings" section?
Its not listed there to use. (i remember seeing vouchers from cancelled flights listed in there)

I can access it manually by entering the booking number and my surname.
(I also have the e-mail confirmation)
But this only gives me the "Find flights" option

Any ideas?

Have you actually redeemed the voucher for a flight? If not, then what you are describing is the correct behaviour: it gives you the "Find flights" option to then redeem it for a flight. You cannot "manage" the booking until you've redeemed it for a flight.

Rightio, thats cool then, makes sense i guess, although its tough tracking all those vouchers - I sense another tab on my spreadsheet looming :)

Thanks for the help Kev.

If you put your QFF number against each booking reference, they will line up like ducks on Qantas.com MMB.

See post #85 for a hint.

Awesome I'm flying from QZW to QZY weeeeeeee!!! never been there before :) - cheers Serfty

You would have to have 2 separate bookings.

Could these bookings then be combined or linked. The other two travelling would be 11 and 16.

Makes life difficult with the potential age restrictions. (Sorry I'm not familiar with age rules) But bookings can be linked via the TCP process that was mentioned.

It is more than a few phone calls. I had to call for every new voucher last year. That's up to 60 phone calls in your scenario. I've got better things to do with 5 hours than sitting on the phone to qantas.
Not for me.

Towards the end I batched up 10 bookings from the last few vouchers I had left and called and got the remarks removed with the one phone call. The phone call may have taken 15 minutes which costs me nothing.

I only had to call for some bookings to have the remarks removed!

15000 points is worth the phone calls if needed
Agreed. Totally worth it.

Well you should be buying 35 $150 vouchers for the extra 2500 points then.

Huh? What a strange comparison.

Cost of 70 * $50 vouchers = $3500, cost of 100 $50 vouchers = $5000.

I can understand not wanting to go though the process of purchasing and keeping track of 100 vouchers ... and that's fair enough.

I have no idea what your comparison otherwise was about in relation to siginificant !??!?!

Comparing 35000 points for $3500 expenditure with 5000 points for $5000 expenditure is like stating 1 is sometimes a small value less than 1 - certainly not siginificant.
Apologies. I thought my explanation was clear. It was explained a little better by kevrosmith in post #108.

Re: QFF points for gift vouchers

Could someone explain what will happen if you do not call to get the "remark" removed ?

I kept on making another booking using the residual voucher value without calling up and that does not seem to affect my MMB etc...

Maybe I was lucky ??
In my case if I have a voucher that was creted from residual value I am unable to see the booking. i.e. When I go into manage my booking the screen appears with no flight details and to contact your local Qantas office. One $500 voucher can be used for as many 6 bookings. So I wait until I have ~10-12 bookings and call Qantas to have the remarks removed.

Re: QFF points for gift vouchers

Need to buy 2 QF seats in Y CNS/SYD/CNS $430 each = $860.

Have Acquire & Q Cash Card + buy voucher.

What is the best points deal I can get using a combination?.
