Hmmm, looks like I'll just transact normally until actual T&Cs for this promo are released! Between the other half and myself we've had over 30 transactions since Friday but no extra bonus points yet since the 3k.

Why oh why would you ring and ask when they are going to finish a promotion they have not even announced :?:I would go so far as to say Often it's better to keep quiet about such things

I am reasonably sure there are many millions of Amex card holders out there beyond those that read this forum. Out of that, some % are also receiving these bonus points, and some % of those will no doubt call Amex asking what is going on.

Even if this wasn't detected internally within Amex, they'd be getting the same inquiries from other non-forum members. I don't think there's any point in trying to "keep it quiet"

Amex is going to sent a letter out soon to all those who have received these points. THEY ARE ERRONEOUS. The point swill be taken away soon.

How do I know?
Because I wanted to claim, and was told do not count those bonus 1000 points because they will be taken away.

Oh well, it was fun whilst it lasted. At least we'd honed our skills for any future points runs and didn't spend any more than our regular expenditure, and I've turned the other half into an AMEX convert. :mrgreen:

Checked my points balance 3 times today, still nothing, nothing unusual.:evil: There are at least 50 transactions from the end of July. Really hopeless about MR.

Well, I'm only going to be set 1,000 points, although I should probably tell mum that the promo was a bluff before she starts going hard on the supp card.

I can't wait for them to take back points just gives me another reason to cough to them when they charge me the annual fee for the card

Got a call from Amex today, a few days late but at least they called as promised.

The whole thing was a mistake as some of you have ascertained. The promo was only targeted for a certain new card under a promo didnt find out which.

The promo is capped at 4k points... CR rep was shocked when i advised i've received 7k points.

Points are to be forfeited and letters will be sent.

Found it all quite amusing. Have a lovely night all.

I assume that means that you have the card that Nimer referred to, but could not name.

So out of interest, what type of Amex do you have that the PC referred to?

I'm just the messenger. Thats what he said. The whole thing has been a big 'boo boo'.

Although I was not receiving any bonus points the promotion was fun while it lasted. It always gives me a laugh to read these threads to find out the lengths that people will go to in order to earn to bonus points.

Spend, spend, spend! Perhaps the release of the promotion was not an accident at all but rather Amex testing the waters to see how far people will go to earn some bonus points....

I must admit I spent a little more than normal, but probably spread out my purchases into smaller transactions.

I am back to my Westpac SQ card for now and about to put a rather large amount through it and will end up with over 120,000 SQ Miles from the 1 transaction. :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

The KF card earns at 3 points per $ on the Amex at present as it is earning at twice it's normal rate.

So any spend of $40 K will earn 120K of points.

No EClass, the X5 was already ordered months ago

Just an overseas holiday and paying for Business class airfares, 2 for 1 deal with V Australia basically.

Combining the business class points that both of us will earn from VA will then give me almost enough points for another SYD-LAX flight in Business class.

$12,000 spend
36,000 KF miles
63,000 VA points (I will take the points from my travel companion)

Not bad at all really

The other money is for accommodation, car hire etc etc.

Prepaying everything while the Aussie $ is about 82c and to get the KF miles.

The Q5 is getting fully paid for on the last week of October, so 240,000KF from that, as I have already paid a deposit.

The dealership agreed to let me pay on Amex, but due to a 20K credit limit will be paying in installments on the CC.

I wonder what Westpac will think of this... Anyways this is very offtopic.

I wonder what the Amex promo MAY be come 1st September!
