2 Old Dames on the best Dame in the World - Queen Mary 2

And last post for a while.

I seem also to have inherited another bathrobe. I've yet to see where bear ends up.

My clothing was left undisturbed but was being watching over by a pack waiting for the slightest indication it had stopped. I beat 'em to it.

The couple of photos of teh decking show it to be in tip top condition. I'm not surprised, but it reinforces how some of these cruises are top class down to the smallest detail.

Arrh I lost my half posted reply!
The old dame was up and around for the 9am stretch class and Vlad was pretty gentle, no sign of the torturer! The word must have got around about Pushka's line dancing prowess as the room was packed and we even had to divide into two groups at times. There are a number if passengers who have embraced St Patrick's Day, with some rather, how should we say, interesting is probably the safest word, outfits. It is the St Pats ball tonight so I am expecting a lot of green!
This old dame is off for a cup of tea.

And amazingly that was the music being played as I took that photo.

I keep having all the 'Ah' moments.

Since early this morning (St Patricks Day) we have been travelling through the Great Barrier Reef Marine National Park. At the moment we are in the widest part of the reef, and our speed has slowed considerably. We barely make a wake.

From time to time we pass through areas of what looks like dust in the water and wonder if this is the coral spawning. Sadly I didn't go to the lecture today to find out. Oops.

Tomorrow we enter much narrower waters and a Marine Park Pilot will board and guide us slowly through the channel. I think it's the Whitsunday Passage? The scenery is supposed to be very interesting.

The next day we are tendered at Yorkeys Knob. I'm taking a snorkelling tour leaving at 7.30 am and a catamaran will take us directly from the ship. It means by the time we get to Kota Kinabalu I'll have spent 8 days at sea not touching land.

When having coffee with Dame the Older and QF WP I was swaying so by Malaysia I'm going to be weaving all over the place. I don't get sea sick but I do sway when back on land.

Tonight is St Patricks Day Ball. I don't do green. But tonight I am. A couple of passengers are kitted up in cute outfits. Not my scene but they do look the part.

Are you going to do trivia onboard sooner or later? I thought trivia was almost compulsory on a cruise :)

I did it once. I found it, ah, frustrating when the answers required were wrong and all the hosts say "well, that's the answer we have". Which makes it all pointless to me. Too much angst. I don't get it. :p

Bingo seems to be the requisite thing to do but not for this duck.

I half expected a glass (or bottle) of Moët in the last photo Pushka.

Trivia was one of the subjects we broached in our get-together in Hilton. Same response, put firmly!

Enjoy snorkeling this morning - time to get up now (if you aren't already). Looking forward to seeing the St Patricks Day photos

Woke this morning to the sight of a small island off to the port side. We are just off Mackay so will be picking our way through the Whitsundays today. There is reef pilot on board to assist as it would be a bit poor to run aground, probably not good publicity for Cunard if that happened
The sea is still a millpond, of course the reef helps there, but I do quite like a bit of movement when on board. You know you are at sea. The only thing I can feel this morning is a slight vibration from the engines but that's it.
I'll leave the photo uploads to Pushka as my AFF app is a bit dodgy and won't let me log in, so I have to post through the website. Anyway she's the shutter kid with her phone and takes lots of great shots.
Another day of decisions today - what to choose. Thankfully (for me that is) there are no exercise classes on so I can rest up. We have spa passes for entry to the relaxation room, saunas, thessa something pool (I can never remember its name) so might have to try that area out today. A couple of the lectures looked tempting and then of course, there is always coffee or lolling about in a deck chair. There is a get together today for anyone who is or has been involved in the aviation industry, fittingly called Hangar Doors Open. Not me, but I wonder what the turn out will be.
Sadly our host was not able to join our table at last night's formal dinner but he did send the wine with his compliments so all was not lost. A pity as from all accounts the hosts are very entertaining to listen to.

Stunning full moon about to fade over the Whitsundays.

I'm receiving a Telstra signal on wifi so hoping that lasts for a couple of days as I'm crunching through the satellite time onboard. I'm not receiving a Maritime signal though so I'm wondering if that's the reason our Chief Engineer went AWOL last night.

Snorkelling tour is tomorrow QF WP. We are moving slowly. :p

A day of indulgence today. (ha, as if I haven't already been doing that)

Vlad and his crew are only offering paid sessions today which I refuse to do. They are being a bit sneaky and many of the workouts are now being charged whereas before they were free. The full world cruisers (well, there's only one that goes to the gym) is appropriately cranky because she's been going for free since January. There'll be Mutiny on Board for sure!

So the Dames are off to the Spa. We did a quick tour and it looks heavenly, especially the pool which I've heard massages even better than a hands on massage due to this high pressure waterfall. We can stay all day from 8am until 8pm and come in and out. Several different types of saunas. Several different types of showers. Foot massage baths. A relaxation lounge looking out over promenade deck. We both purchased 5 day passes for $95US. A bargain.

It's a Veuve ship here - not a Moët to be seen unless you bring it on yourself.

It's weird. Everyone I've spoken to received a half bottle of Pol Aker, the complimentary champagne. It's from France. I received a full bottle and that's reserved for Suites. I don't have a Suite and if I did I wouldn't be able to dine in Britannia. There is no explanation other than Cunard really does KWIA. :p

(For those who don't know me/haven't met me, I'm not a high flyer, never travelled in F, rarely in J. I'm not a DYKWIA but I'm happy in my skin. So this Cunard KWIA is just a bit of fun!)

I have a lovely photo of Dame the older in green.....:D

So now my cabin attendant has worked out about the bed he's having a bit of fun with Cunard bear. He's bobbing up wearing sunnies, reading the paper etc.

One thing some cruise lines do is make towel animals. I find them strange but depending on creativity they can be fun.

I've seen one passenger who got so stuck into this they created a person from towels, put trousers round their ankles, put on a coat and T shirt and hat, and popped them on the toilet. Looked hysterical and would have given the attendant such a fright.

They don't "do" towel animals on Cunard but watch out if you leave your nightwear on the bed before you go to dinner.

I really LOVE this AFF app for posting. Perfect for (somewhat) live Trip Reports.
