Everyone - just a quick reminder that if you have booked or rebooked a room at HSW, please let me know by filling out the form on post #4 of this thread.

I am collecting confirmation numbers and contact details for the HSW or if we need to send out any broadcast information or the like. (No we will not sell your email address or phone number and so on......)

If you have previously filled out the form and nothing has changed except your confirmation number, you can just PM that to me.

Hey all - we better not pin our hopes on an industry expert :(

I have received news that they will not be able to attend, however have offered a few really nice gifts to give away.

I am contacting another as I type this, however it's better not to pin our hopes on this coming through
Well, JB will have to do it himself then.. :p

Just a quick reminder everyone that this event is coming up very soon!

I will be sending the latest list of attendees who are staying at the HSW to the hotel tomorrow, so if you have just booked or rebooked, please make sure I have your details on hand (fill out the Google Form on post #4 of this thread; minor corrections can be PM'ed to me).

Just a thought for the JQ1 (nee JQ35) crowd.... how were we all thinking of getting into the city/HSW? Skybus? Public bus? Luxury transfer? Standard taxi (is it still ~$66 inc. credit card fee)?

I know I should not be so prodigal, but thought I'd just throw it out there.

4 per taxi would be reasonable, cost wise?

I think if booking taxis, we just need to get together in the F lounge and book some maxi cabs to private pick up in MEL. Easy done, gives them a couple of hours to organise and with 4-6 per maxi, it will be 15-20 each max

I'm in for 2 seats

Ok, past Moonee Valley then - although the 'Ponds route should be less expensive than the other.

The way I see things:
  • Skybus: steady option, $26 return ($13 one way), just requires a dog-leg transfer at Southern Cross.
  • Public bus: the wanderer's option, cheap (even without myki), bit of messing around.
  • Conventional Taxi from rank: easy, walk-up, no booking fee, works out to be ~$64 including credit card fee, so about $16 per pax (4 pax).
  • Taxi (including Maxi) by booking: unreliable (in my experience - Maxi taxi bookings in Melbourne for me have always been a basket case, and that's being very nice), otherwise potentially the cheapest at around $8 - $12 per pax. If someone can make sure a Maxi arrives without any BS then this would work extremely well.
  • Luxury transfer in sedan: About maximum $20 per person if booked in advance.
  • Luxury transfer in larger-than-sedan: No bl**dy idea - needs a quote-request on every site I've seen.

Half the cab drivers in Melbourne, wouldn't even have a clue where Mt Alexander Road is!

I am more than happy for people if they wish to meet at my office which is 7 mins from the airport and I may be able to assist with some transport depending on Mr Mella

KST will do a group rate door to door for $16 per person, saves the skybus dog leg and waiting:...
The beauty of that is with the group booking you don't visit half a dozen hotels to drop off other passengers on the way (which is my main issue with these types of service).

I wonder what the maximum occupancy is?

I thought I would add that as an option for that reason ;)
Max is 21 per bus.

I hate to be lazy, but what's the go for those of us who haven't booked dinner but want to be part of the Kris Kringle and drinking bits of the night?

According to the first post schedule, the KK and the majority of drinks will take place before the dinner at Pure South, so I think you'll be in good hands.
