30K Bonus Velocity Points or 250 Status Credits or $200 Coles Voucher with New Credit Card

I would apply to the virgin money given the current generous 130k offer. Just apply to the one with 6k limit. Not sure that closing your citi has any adverse effect, on the contrary, it probably makes it esieer. My data point: I have a 35k limit citi and got approved on the 6k virgin money, granted everyone circumstances differ.
I'll give it a shot. Just waiting for one of my cards to close, then I'll be on my application for it. My notes are I applied for 2 cards in January on the same day and received them both (in addition to my usual card). One of the 2 January cards are closed - am hopeful it's not too close!

Did anyone get a definitive answer as to when the card needs to be applied for by? i.e. before 31 March?

In the last similar promotion which ran during 2022, my partner applied for their card well after the choice benefit selection period and it still worked (trial gold for 6 months).

But i am not sure if it is similar this time. Doesn't hurt to make the choice anyway even if you are not in a position to apply already.

Yeah I got an email back where they stated card must be applied for by 31 march. But whether or not it still might work is still an open question

With Family Pooling active (account getting the new card transfers everything to another), I would expect that when choosing the status credits these go to the linked as account as everything else does. Would you think that is a fair assumption?

I have a credit card already, but my partner just got rid of one so goo opportunity for a new one.
Did anyone end up doing this. I am hoping to apply for 2 x 250sc’s (1 for me, 1 for partner using family pooling).
If I can hold off on earning the eligible sectors for a bit to activate closer to the expiry of kris flyer gold then maximise time with either kris flyer or velocity gold.
But feeling there may be flaw in my plan?

Selected the benefit 4 weeks ago yet still no e-mail. I've contacted Velocity to confirm I will be eligible for the bonus points given the benefit select page states "Hey *****, you selected 30,000 bonus Points* on 13/02/2023 - Now, it's time to choose your credit card with an annual fee"

I applied for a card yesterday forgetting to check for the email, I've been away for 2 weeks and just figured I would have received one and that's why the link was there. After searching I can't find anything.

I would assume it's a glitch and I will be eligible. I can't see Velocity choosing the e-mail confirmation hill to die one, especially considering the possible deceptive practice of 'confirming the selection date and offering a link to apply' before the e-mail had been sent.

I've selected the 250 SCs for myself and my wife and hope to benefit from the family pooling to get instant GOLD.

My question to the forum is - if I'm ineligible for the sign-up 'points' bonus becasue I've held the card in the past 12 months, will I still be eligible for the SCs?

I would apply for a new card from a different bank - if you're going to get the credit check, may as well get the bonus points in exchange!

Strongly suspect you won't get the Velocity bonus if you are not eligible for the card's own bonus. The terms do state you need to "meet the minimum spend criteria for the eligible offer associated with the individual card if the application is successful".

As mentioned earlier several of us have got the Velocity bonus on the 2nd or later month with the Virgin Money card. My strong suspicion is that Velocity don't/can't know anything about when you opened the card and that the trigger for the bonus to pay out is whenever the card's own bonus hits your Velocity account. No card bonus, no Velocity bonus...

Thanks Matt.

I recently closed my Virgin Money Card after benefitting from the sign up bonus. I realise that most cards only offer the bonus to new customers, those that haven't held a card in the previous 12 months (18 months for AMEX). When scanning the small print I couldn't see that for the Virgin Money card. All it says is that "Velocity Points offer is available to new and approved Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card account holders...Offer is not available to existing Virgin Money Credit Card holders".

Is it worth trying given I only closed my account a month ago?

So for this card and the signup points, $1500 per statement is required. Does this card has a standard statement period for everyone (i.e. a full month?) or does the statement start on the day of approval, activation, first spend?

I would need to know to make sure I can schedule some expenses correctly to help hit the threshold, accross mine and Mrs ChrisMars card.

Thanks Matt.

I am in the exact some position and would like to know this too. Has anyone reapplied within a month or so of closing and ended up with a second round of 100k bonus points?

Does anyone know if you have family pooling setup with your partner and they select the 250SC, gets one of the cards - will the SC pool to the head of family? And could you double dip so both adult members getting the 250SC bonus?

Re-reading the terms and conditions, it's not 100% clear if you need to apply for the card before 31 March, or if you just need to choose which benefit.

To be eligible to receive the choice of 30,000 bonus Velocity Points, 250 Status Credits or $200 Coles Gift Card (each an ‘Exclusive Benefit’), you must (a) be a Velocity Frequent Flyer member, (b) make your selection of the Exclusive Benefit by visiting here between 12:01am (AEST) 13 February 2023 and 11:59pm (AEST) 31 March 2023 (prior to the card application) and receive a confirmation email to the nominated email address in your Velocity Frequent Flyer account, (c) after receipt of the confirmation email, successfully apply for any card featured on the Velocity Points Earning Credit Card page that has an annual card fee (the American Express Velocity Escape Card is not eligible for this promotion), and (d) meet the minimum spend criteria for the eligible offer associated with the individual card if the application is successful.

It only says you need to choose the benefit before 31 march. And some of the cards on the page have different timeframes e.g. Westpac :

20Bonus Velocity Points Promotion Altitude Platinum: To qualify for this promotion you must apply and be approved for a new Altitude Velocity Platinum card between 6 December 2022 - 29 June 2023

I wonder if I applied after 31 March if it would still be honoured? Anyone have any suggestions on how to find out?
That is my question for Westpac too. June being the qualifying period. I'm a bit anxious to leave it until that time though incase it's an error. I've activated the velocity choice already.

First part of your question - yes, I got my partner's credits
Second part - I don't see why not as it's a different account and different person applying for the card

Has anyone else had issues with their application for this card?

I've called three times now over the past couple of weeks, and even though I applied on the 5th March they claim that they will get back to me with a decision in 24-48hrs. When you check online with the reference number, it says that they are reviewing my application.

That being said, I've tried twice now with another application since, using a different browser with cleared cache and cookies, and never received a confirmation email with my reference number.

Question with 251 status credits and a Mar 2024 review date would the 250 SC be the way to go with this offer? I was Gold once before, somehow at the moment Silver. Doing enough flying to keep status is not that easy. Domestically I really favour Virgin over QF. Have a stack of QFF pts but find Virgin must better for any last minute travel.
