Assume the sim and network service will work in another phone? Plan to leave the phone in the box totally unopened for later sale.

So I received the phone and sim card

How do we activate the sim?

I just turned the phone on and inserted the sim and it says emergency only.

There are no instructions in the box

I picked mine up from a Vodafone store today (Click & Collect) - SIM was already activated out of the box.

No points link yet.

If the SIM is already activated, do we even need to open the phone box?

I think I'll just sell it brand new in a box as soon as the points clear.

You can just put the SIM in your current phone too to activate and then remove it.

Click & collect might be handled differently to a standard courier delivery.

If you want to sell BNIB why not put the SIM into another phone to activate (if needed) and generate some network activity?

Phones received, activated accounts, filled in form for points. :)

Then got this email.

Within an hour of signing for the delivery this morning I received a start up email from Vodafone

Received my 2 handsets (one for wife and one for me), signed up for points using form linked above.

First thing i did with each handset was set up new google (gmail) accounts when setting up the phone, then downloaded uber eats app on each, then applied a "$20 off first order" promo code to each profile. $20 off Uber Eats Order (New Customers)

Anyone can think of other bonuses similar to this to take advantage of with a new sim + email account? Let's maximise the value guys!
Thanks for the tip. Just ordered $40 worth of free food from UberEats tonight on the 2 phones. No cooking. Yay!

if porting across from another carrier - what number do we use on claim form for the points? the new one given by vodafone or the ported number (once it's ported)

my order was delivered to Vodafone shop today and I picked it up. Plugged sim into my current iPhone and no sign of activation. As noted by motef above, I can’t see any u/v activation key on the sim.

Mine was delivered today and got the same thing, so rang them 1300650410 to activate. They said I had to go into a store to do it and bring 100 points of ID

I don't think Vodafone know what they're doing actually. I had to ring and was told it would be activated in 24 hours (been 18 and hasn't). MrsDaver6 rang and said she needs to ring back in 24 hours as the SIM number wasn't yet in their system. She specifically asked about going in store and was told that wasn't an option. This should be interesting...

So turned the phone on this morning and the sim was activated.

I didn't do anything. Just seems to be delayed
