Re: 5,000 Free KrisFlyer Miles for New Accounts (or 3,703 Velocity Frequent Flyer Poi

There is an instance where 100+ signups saw points channelled to a certain 'family' within Velocity - an even finer comb is now being deployed - again genuine cases have nothing to fear - multiple 'sign ups'? Well you must have known there was a risk.
Wow... Did you hear that from SQ? or from another forum? thats a massive effort to even sign up that many...

Honestly.... did they not think having 100 'family members' transferring into the one account/s would not raise a red flag?

I would be interested to know how this will pen out. Definitely will be audited, if s/he really has 100 family member, then it's in the terms and condition then nothing is wrong. If not, then the account will be suspended and all that effort for nothing!

One step removed from SQ/KF - I did have a very good contact in KF but she left to continue study - she sent me an SMS checking to see if I had been stupid enough to try it on - which I had not - also advising me of the degree of shenanigans and that SQ are taking a very very dim view of the whole matter.

Kris Flyer has a general provision in its terms and conditions (cl12.v) allowing it to suspend or exclude any member which is believes has acted in a way which is unacceptable to the programme. Even if you had 100 family members, signing them all up and pooling the points to a single account may be considered a breach of the terms and conditions and this promotion (which is arguably to encourage new membership and have those new members fly SQ).

12. Singapore Airlines reserves the right to (a) suspend, (b) permanently exclude the member from further participation in, or (c) terminate his/her membership in KrisFlyer and/or PPS Club upon the occurrence of any of the following events:
...
v. In the sole opinion of Singapore Airlines, the member has acted fraudulently or in any manner that is unacceptable to Singapore Airlines in relation to his/her membership.
If the membership is suspended, any miles and PPS Value accrued shall be suspended. If the member is permanently excluded from membership or has his/her membership terminated in KrisFlyer and/or the PPS Club, any miles and PPS Value accrued shall be revoked and forfeited without entitlement to compensation. Whether the member is suspended or permanently excluded or the membership is terminated, the member shall be liable for all damages, litigation and transaction costs.

Of course, we are talking thousands of dollars worth of points for just one person if they signed up over 100. times that by all the rest and it would be massive.
SQ can obviously cancel all accounts and pull back points still on SQ. But I wonder if VA will come to the party with them and wipe off these points.
Can SQ transfer points to "family members"? If not this could of been easily avoided by giving away 4999 or 4500 points or upping the tranfer minimum to 5001 .

I'd like to be as sure of winning the Lotto.

Please don't ever underestimate the stupidity of some members from the OzBargain fraternity...

Yeah thats what I thought. A case of one number would of made the difference. If you leave a loophole it will get exploited these days

I think you will find that in the T&C of the velocity program there would be some terms somewhere along the lines of abuse, or reasonable behaviour and the like. The odds of someone having 100 "genuine" people would be astronomical. The odds of them actually having 100 family members who themselves all signed up and all elected to move their points to the benefit of one person would be far-fetched.

They could've limited the amount of free SQ accounts per address or on the VA side, stop the link accounts from being unlinked or limit the amount of linked account changes say 10 every 180 days.

Offering 4000 KF miles for the promotion would have solved everything. I can't believe they didn't foresee any of this!

Nah..any points to VA is a bad idea for SQ as 1/ it costs them and 2/ the whole point of the exercise is to get people flying on SQ.

They just had to do what they now have. A joining bonus of less than the minimum transfer rate of 5000.

The rate of 2500 prevents that.

Well luckily the marketers often stuff up.

For me it is a matter of which ones you go to town on. Though that in part is determined by the likelihood of success...and what you risk (ie if one say already had points and or award redemptions with SQ, or even VA) The only way to get large results from this was to not just bend rules, but to break them, and that will often end badly.

IMO anyone that did in a small way will not have a problem. But I doubt that one larger haul will be retained in this particular promo...

How true is this, you would think organisations would have a bit of corporate and/or industry "memory" but every year a new marketing team and more promotions that can be abused!

Reminds me of 7-eleven and their promo's. Long story short, took them 3 promos to finally closed all possible loopholes for people to abuse.

Something similar to adding/removing redemption nominees?

Re: 5,000 Free KrisFlyer Miles for New Accounts (or 3,703 Velocity Frequent Flyer Poi

Even though I only have 1 SQ account, and transferred the points to my VA account... VFF have reversed a completely legitimate (and unrelated to the KF promo) family points transfer out of my account mid last week. The points didn't reappear in the originating account either and so they have disappeared into a blackhole. This erroneously reversed transfer was also done back in February, a whole month before the KF promo as well.

Furthermore I have a report of VFF reversing a SQ->VA transfer (6509 VA points) that was again unrelated to the KF promo. Instead the points from the KF promo (3704 points) have remained in the account.

Re: 5,000 Free KrisFlyer Miles for New Accounts (or 3,703 Velocity Frequent Flyer Poi

I signed up for the promo on March 15th, entering the code online had already been disabled, so I emailed the provided email address.
As I am outside Australia at the moment, I thought the verification process might become a problem (it asked me to provide an Australian contact number, which I could not have been reached on given my location offshore, so I gave my local number)

10 days later, and I got an email today saying that I had been verified and the 5000 bonus miles is already in my Krisflyer account. So they are still processing the promo sign-ups...
