Which flight? Any onward connection?
per-syd-lax no same day onward connection all booked AA codes (sfo 2 days later)
In that case, the answer is no.

Even though they may have relaxed the rules to enable access to any terminal, you still need the Day of departure BP ex LAX to do so.

I've recently reached platinum on AA. I've put my AA FF # into QF's system as I'm taking an international flight with them later this year. I believe that OW Sapphire members are entitled to advance seat selection but QF still wants to charge me for it. Does anyone know how long it takes QF to recognise my AA status?

No idea, it might be easier to ring. I have the same problem with BA recognising my AA status sometimes, the call centre can see it but the seat selection tool cannot.

Today I tried to book an AAward KUL-xHKG-xMEL-PER for 35k, the cost of an Asian 2 to South Pacific award. The quote, however, was for 52.5k. AA's computer split it into two awards.

According to the agent this was because the maximum permitted mileage for KUL-PER is about 3.1k (from memory) but my itinerary was 7.8k. I understand the rule about the trip needing to be within MPM+25% which I understand to be 3733 for KUL-PER (ie. 30xx miles + 25%).

Did I fall foul of the MPM rule?

The agent also tried to tell me that the computer split it into two awards when I moved from CX to QF for MEL-PER but I've never heard of that rule before.

CX publishes a fare KUL-xHKG-xMEL-PER so that part shouldn't be a problem.

I put my first CX flight on hold last week and last night I called AA back and paid for the ticket and I see on the AA.com page my booking has changed from "On hold" to "On request". What does this mean exactly ?

I've booked EY plenty of times and usually after the booking has been paid for the booking changes from "On hold" to "ticketed".

So yeh just wondering if this "On request" thing is something I need to call them up and chase them up for or if it will just become "ticketed" by itself, over time. It was around 12 hours ago when I called them up to pay.

Also for CX how do I select seats, etc. Up to this point my booking does not appear on CX's manage my booking, and yes I am using the CX booking reference number, but perhaps that also fix when the booking becomes "ticketed".

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated as I have never booked CX before. Thanks.

The ticket has been requested to be issued. Award tickets seem to be issued manually so the actual timing of the issue will depend on the time of day and timezone where the issue takes place. The AAdvgantage "Rate Desk" used to be in Ireland - not sure of that is still the case. So it can sometimes take a day to go to the Rate Desk and then it gets "queued" for issue which I think is done by USA staff.

Thanks. How do I go about seat selection ?
For CX flights, I have called or emailed CX with the details. Otherwise you can try calling AAdvantage in the USA and they may be able to submit your seating request.

Are there any differences in terms of service onboard long haul (SYD-LAX) flights if I was to put my AA # (plat) on my booking with QF?

I've not noticed any difference.I always have my AA number in.but I do travel with a WP.She though gets annoyed because on QF the CSM often spends more time with me.

I am AA Platinum (OWS). Last night on QF6 had personal greeting from CSM and excellent service from other staff members, inc guiding back to seat with flashlight during the night etc. Similar recognition on outbound so I have no reason to think QF don't recognise AA status.

Sounds decent enough for me to put my AA # in. Thanks for that!

Please excuse me if tis is in the wrong thread, but are there any non-Amex cards in Australia that can earn to AA? Or earn to SPG then to AA?
