A couple of questions from an AAdvantage newbie

Cheers. Was able to log on to AY MMB using QF PNR. But unfortunately the AY website wouldn't let me change the FF number in the booking. (Nor would the RJ website.)

I've had the same problem using the AY and RJ sites - try putting the QF PNR into the QR site as it worked for me last month.

Anyone have any rough idea how long a CX redemption takes to ticket?

In my experience, usually up to about 72 hours, but I find that's the case with any airline.
I had an EY booking that had the miles deducted and CC details provided over the phone on Saturday night. By Sunday morning it wasn't done so I called the Aussie number and they got it done while I waited on the phone. I had the ticket number before I hung up the phone.

But I only did that because I knew I would have no time to chase up on Monday and Tuesday and travel was on Wednesday (yesterday) so didn't really have time to wait around for it to ticket naturally.

Thanks Nizar. Booking was only put on request 24 hours ago so will give it another 12 hours and then ring up just to make sure no issue with my CC details or similar. I've also then got to make a 3K booking SIN/DRW as soon as it tickets also. If only it was like QF with borderline (in my recent experiences) instant ticketing..

Ticketing has slowed somewhat since the 17th July. A simple AA one-way LAX-DEN toke 18 hours to ticket on Tuesday. I waited 78 hours for a MEL-(QF)-LAX-(AA)-JFK to ticket a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

I have read the past 6 pages and cant find this answer. I want to book a AAdvantage ticket over the phone on etihad and all goes well until i give them my australian issued credit card and the agent keeps telling me i need one issued in the US. I have only made online booking before so never had this problem could someone lend a hand.

Thank you,.

Of course mate. You have many haters on this forum but to me you're a Legend for the things you've somehow managed to pull off over the years.

Call the Australian (Sydney) number they'd be happy to take payment off of your Australian issued credit card.

I suggest calling during the day for faster service - hold times can be significant after about 10pm Melbourne time.

Since so many of us have managed to use an Australian credit card for payment over the phone I would try calling again to another AAdvantage Angel. If this fails, if your award is already on hold, see if you can pay for it online.

As far as I know, unless something changes recently, EY bookings (like CX, JL, QR etc) cannot be booked online.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

More often than not the agent in US wont accept Aussie CC.But every time it has happened to me they have always put the booking on hold and told me to ring the Australian number to pay.As no phone booking fee now it is no great disaster.
I do get put through to an EXP agent though even though I am only LTP.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

I will give the Aussie number a call and see how I go I just find the Aussies charge a lot more then the agents in the U.S. and never seem to be as helpful . I also had this problem when booking online just can't remember how I got around it

This is pretty much my SOP for AA bookings now.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

The trick we used to have to use prior to the Aust call centre not charging fees was to put a 0 in front of your postcode and pretend to the agent that it was a US credit card. Has always worked for me in the past and had to do that online as well.

Next time I make a booking which is coming soon hopefully then will use the Aust call centre.

Dale.

But if you ask the US agent to put it on hold you have locked in the US charges when you ring the Aussie number to pay.

Good idea dale I think I did this when I made the booking online. While the booking is on hold and you ring the Aussie number what does the status of the booking say online ? Mine says ticketed

If it says ticketed online - on the AA website - you can confirm it is all well and good through bringing up the booking and hitting 'Print Itinerary & Receipt' will bring up teh e-ticket (?) and the ticket number along the bottom beginning 001. Everything should then be all well and good.
NB: If you're using the app it will say 'Ticketed' even when it is still 'on request'.

It says "ticketed" on the aa.com website and when i select the print version there is no e-ticket visable. I brought this ticket on wednesday so if nothing changes shortly i will contact AA in australia to ask them and add a infant to the booking. I wonder if its cheaper to call AA to add the infant or cx.

has full payment hit your credit card? if you bought the ticket on Wednesday you really should be pushing for immediate ticketing... partner airlines can cancel after 72 hours.

I agree. Call the Aussie number. They will put you on hold while they call the ticketing desk and by the time you hang up the phone your flight will be ticketed with the ticket number visible once you check your reservation, click the "print itinerary" link and scroll down.
