Good grief. They've been in Government for 2 minutes and you've already surmised all this? Give me a break.

You might have ignored their words while in opposition. Others didn't.

No, I surmised it from the performance of the previous Coalition Government, which Abbot has made no secret about regarding as the gold standard, their actions while in opposition, their actions for the last "2 minutes" and their political philosophy.

All of these things point in the same direction.

Good grief, they've been in government for two minutes and already the tory fanbois are projecting that they're a possible four-term government. You people need to make up your minds.

Well I've already made up my mind who I'm voting for in the next 4 elections.

I've never stated they'd have four terms. I think that'd be a bad thing actually.

Tory fanboi? What does British politics have to do with this? Actually if I was in the USA I'd be voting for Clinton if she ever comes to the role.

Just stop with the generalisations. They are nonsensical and show a level of hysteria.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

IIRC the call was three terms......maybe four depending on the quality of the opposition. The way Billy and Tanya are going - it might end up being 5 terms!

That's why it is in the playground...

"Just stop with the generalisations"? Written with all the charm of a Born to Rule tory fanboi wearing his best confected outrage expression. If it wasn't made clear that President Credlin has prevented her underlings from engaging on social media I'd put good money down saying that behind the user name Pushka lurks the computer of Chrissie Pyne.

Not a question to Pushka in particular, but to anyone who may know: was there an official reason given for Julie Bishop withdrawing from next Monday's Q and A, or is it the usual "no comment on operational matters"? I was looking forward to seeing her; she's a poor performer in parliament but usually provides value on Qanda.

I am sure this topic, like many others, is discussed at length in many an airport lounge and airplane so is not out of place.
Parliaments tend to have a high proportion of frequent flyers.

You've actually made me snort in derision. A number of AFF'rs have met me. Where is my ROFL icon when I need it.

oh no, a tory fanboi snorts in derision, I'm sure that's never happened before. What was I saying about confected outrage?

Along with Bishop Jr not appearing on Qanda, it seems now that the Indonesians have told Barnaby Joyce not to bother with his visit. Two minutes in government, as noted by one of the tory fanbois in an earlier post, and they are already in a shambles. And one of those fanbois predicted a possible four terms for these amateurs - who said the right is void of a sense of humour?

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

And One Term Tony is effortlessly ensuring that's not going to happen

Unfortunately Labour has seen to it that Tony will be in for at least 2 terms.

I just cannot see Shorten as a genuine candidate for prime minister. Perhaps another is waiting in the wings for when the time is right.

What does confected mean?

But fortunately Tony is seeing to it that they'll be lucky to last one full term. He's hitting the giddy heights of successful liberal leadership not seen since the days of Billy McMahon.

Whoever the opposition leader might be at this point in time s/he is unlikely to lead the party at the next election - that would be true of either party. If the LNP were to be smart they'll wait a while and then move Malcolm up again, he's possibly the only one in their current lineup to have displayed real leadership qualities, and he certainly would have avoided the current disgraceful and embarrassing mess. And of course Bishop Jr will be standing behind him beaming and swearing her undying allegiance to the new leader as she has done so many times before :)

All those years of doing nothing but say "no" while they were in opposition when they should have been honing their skill to become a government. What a waste.

I seem to remember something called The Peter Principle' where someone is promoted one level above their actual ability, it was quite prescient in it's time. I forget the author.

The current disgraceful and embarrassing mess Badgerboi?
Oh I get it.The one left by the previous government.

Of course you read about the nick name a couple of Bill Shorten's parliamentary mates have given him-Short willy-because he hasn't got the equipment to do the job properly.

Yep, and we see it again and again. But not necessarily in this case, Shorten is probably the right person for this time, but not necessarily to lead his party to an election.

I am not playing sides.

Labor needs to get its act together. Shorten is not the way forward.
