All this blame game tripe is a myopic reflection of the main game.
We have been living way beyond our means for ages .
The intellectually challenged lefties think it can go on forever.
The right completely fail to acknowledge that some of their profligacy came from selling jewels.
The beat goes on and on and on and…. .. it's bats**t boring because it is all about self serving tripe.. instead of seeking a sustainable answer.

On the contrary, it is the "lefties" who have been arguing for 10+ years that recurring tax cuts are unsustainable.

The sustainable answer is restructuring the tax system to a) collect more tax revenue from the top few percent who have been making out like bandits, b) incentivise productive investment, c) disincentivise nonproductive asset speculation.

But since that would require a complete reversal of the neoliberal philosophy that's been driving the western world for the last few decades, don't expect it to happen, especially not while the neoliberals remain in control.

typical ( BsB.. said that already) leftie dreams.. take it all from the rich give it to the poor , have quick little p**s up and then all starve together...

anyway, playing the game ….. just how do you propose to get all the loot from the richies

(b) and ( c ) are actually worthwhile discussion topics IMnsHO.. but here ??

why are the neoliberals in control ?

Same way we did before the '80s.

So long as people like you with zero interesting in anything except childish rhetoric and ad hominem keep polluting the discussion, no, I guess not.

why are the neoliberals in control ?
Because people keep voting for them. Though when they control both major parties, and most people vote solely based on party, they don't appear to have much "choice" in that.

well thanks heaps for the massive vote of confidence.. I'm truly humbled and a little embarrassed by your overwhelming endorsement
guess i will now quietly exit stage left and leave you with your mirror to chat with the intellectual glitterati.

Oh, please. You open a posting with mindless garbage like "take it all from the rich give it to the poor , have quick little p**s up and then all starve together", blame others not being prepared to engage in reasonable discussion, and get tetchy when someone calls you on your hypocrisy ?

Grow up.

Ahh the 80's fond memories I was young and Margaret Thatcher was running the show in the UK

Good times :)

It all went downhill after that so I left and paid my tax elsewhere

Yes, well, Thatcher and Reagan really were the beginning of the end. We are finally reaping what they sowed.

You mean like high real estate prices lol
Actually that's one of the few things that can't be laid at their feet.

They certainly added fuel to the fire, but the root cause is overzealous urban planning choking supply.

It's at least 5 minutes since you've mentioned that
As always, I live in the vain hope someone might be interested in a discussion about the real issues.

Yes yes yes!!

Finally you post something that I agree with!!

This stupid utopian planners wet-dream about European style contained cities is a vain academic exercises that deprives people of choice, artificially inflates housing prices to prohibitive levels, keeps young couples out of new homes, and deprives kids of backyards.

Urban sprawl is a reality whether we like it or not, and efforts to prevent it are like trying to stop the sun from illuminating the earth.

But being such a rabid leftie I would have thought you loved living in some art decor, Steve-Jobs-decorated, trendy inner-city apartment built on top of an inner railway station - with an endless Latte supple downstairs..??..?? No?

I grew up in the country, champ. If I could live outside a city and still find decent work, I'd be all over it like a rash. I want acreage where I can grow food and keep animals. I hate cities and I hate apartments.

My views are marginally left of centre. The only reason they look otherwise is our political spectrum has shifted so far the right over the last 15-odd years (Labor has been further to the right for the better part of a decade than the Coalition was in the '90s).

Happy to start throwing mud if you want? ;)

I hope our Navy isn't intruding Indonesian territorial waters without their authority, as any entering can be considered an act of war.
