Can we add ++ as an abreviation?

++ of course meaning Plus taxes, plus surcharges, plus fuel fines, plus charity donations, plus anything else Airlines/Governments feel like adding to airfares under the guise of "taxes and charges"?
Or the way some airlines do it, maybe we should include ++++++++++++ as well.

I've been using T/L/C as in Taxes, Levies and Charges. I gess with the advent of Fuel and other fines that +++ would be descriptive.

That is 5 "pluses" you quoted so shouldn't that be +++++.

Reminds of SE Asia. Singapore is +++, Malaysia is ++, Thailand is ++!

Hi Mal. Tried to add ++ but couldn't. Has the edit function been disabled with the AFF web changes?

There's a time limit on them. Might be 24 hours or so.

T/L/C, You'll never see me using that :D

Sounds too much like TLC (Tender Loving Care). Qantas and their airline friends rarely give me anything like that when quoting prices!

1 Day Limit. :-|

Maybe you can get a nice moderator to fix it for you. :D

Yeah, one of the slightly annoying things that happened as part of the cutover.

Actually, I was thinking the other day about our use of stickies on the forum, and I think we could do them better. Take this thread. There are a few posts that are useful, the others are just chatter about the abbreviations or have had their information moved into the main definition posts. I think we should instead have a "locked" sticky called "Abbreviations and Explanations" with the appropriate terms, and a link to a discussion thread about the explanations where we can have this type of banter. Saves people getting confused when looking at the sticky.

The AA Plat Sticky thread is also very similar, and could have a cleanup done in it to bring it back to a usefull easy reference thread...

Re: Abreviations and Explanations

The thought had crossed my mind that the thread would be better if the post with all the abbreviations in it was actually the first one in the thread. Still what we have is better than nothing.!

Re: Abreviations and Explanations

I think it is a good idea, but you will need a moderator to modify the abbreviations and explanations.

If you read through this thread you will find I made this suggestion last year but didn't get any support from anyone, so the idea got scrapped. The usual case of people ignoring my posts.

How possibly could you be ignored JohnK ;) ?

Agree that the one locked thread would be more useful. I'm happy if admin or moderators did this, as I can no longer update my original "kept up to date" post. Cheers.

Just to be my usual self a good name for the NEW locked thread would be "Abbreviations and Explanations".

I just noticed that the spelling "abreviations" used on this thread is incorrect.

No, but if I repeat what I just said I would be barred from this site.

Re: Abreviations and Explanations

Since you have HH & SPG, would you like to add IC Intercontinental and PC Priority Club?

I'm glad I finally found this thread to know what QFWP, etc means!

It is a fare basis type that is sold by AA. The fare is technically a discounted first class fare that books into A inventory, but if you need to make changes later and no A class is available then it will be booked in Y inventory.

It started out as being advertised as Pay for Y and get a free UPgrade to first class. Because the fare basis starts with Y, some companies permit it under an economy travel policy.

Re: Abreviations and Explanations

Thanks NM! Is it a full Y fare? Do you get First on Qantas/BA on an AA code share?

No. a full fare Y is more expensive and is only valid for travel in economy. The YUP/KUP fares are only valid for AA domestic/caribbean/canada and give upgrade from economy to the next class of service.

Are you sure? I have only seen "instant upgrades" as INR & D... Fares cross border.
