Abbreviations and explanations

Re: Abreviations and Explanations

Since I'd used them extensively in my TR, I felt responsible to include a full glossary of abbreviations for SQ cabin crews here.

IFS - Inflight Supervisor (brown kebaya if female; maroon tie if male)

FSS - Flight Stewardess (blue kebaya)
LSS - Leading Stewardess (green kebaya)
CSS - Chief Stewardess (red kebaya)

FS - Flight Steward (blue tie)
LS - Leading Steward (green tie)
CS - Chief Steward (red tie)

I'm glad you did this Kieth... I was starting to feel a little left out when i searched and found nothing... Should have looked over on FT!

Re: Abreviations and Explanations

(Long time lurker - small time poster - WP is my lifetime's greatest achievement, and annoys the cough out of my DH  )

Do you guys have a term for QF Partner gold?

I have managed to get enough points to get my DH QF Partner gold, and his workmates call it "Pity Gold" (PG - also helps that it starts with a P as with partner).

Other terms they also use to tease him are 'pathetic gold' or 'undeserved gold'.

Tragically my work has recently cancelled their contract with Q and I am now a gold Virgin & a gold United. My WP expires in 18 months time. :( I will miss that 1st class lounge in Sydney. Last time I was there (super delayed flight) I had a massage, a facial and a manicure, as well as 2 meals and far too much champagne. What will I do without it??

Hi,

mrs ejb refers to her partner Gold status as "Lonely Gold" due to the amount of time I spend away earning the SC's.

Others may have different titles but I am quite certain that with Partner Gold comes marital stress.;)

Take them with you; often - on personal trips of course.

It's hard enough getting status; the only real way to enjoy said status is to have the 3 or 4 times per year personal trip.

One cannot express the comfort I took one evening on QF29 when nervous flyer SWMBO rolled over and went to sleep in a skybed - gained with points upgrade. (the same person who refused to leave her seat in 1998 SIN-LHR for any reason )

cut to the chase - for myself I often use: QF WP w [PG] Bar.

For my DH, 'tis simply QF PG ...

Before I attained QF WP w [PG] Bar, for DH it was QF PQP

The marital stress only comes into our relationship if I go somewhere interesting, last big trip was London/Barcelona, prior to that New Orleans (pre the recent hurricane). My 'usual' trips to exotic locales like Frankston (bottom of VIC) or Albury do not even register.

Re: Abreviations and Explanations

Thanks for the input Dave Noble and for the kind words & link Lindsay Wilson.

My previous post will be ammended to include:

ATW: Around The World
CL: Chariman's Lounge - also QFCL
HP: Hahn Premium (how could I forget)
SFSC: Self Funded Status Chaser.

Cheers :!:
:p by the way what is Hahn?

Re: Abreviations and Explanations

boutique :?:
Yes and what is wrong with using that terminology. It was a boutique brewery in Camperdown, Sydney concentrating on premium beers, similar to Cascade, James Squire, before being sold in the early 90's and production transferred to the Tooheys brewery.

Hahn Premium Light is actually quite a nice beer although I am not too fond of Hahn Premium....

re: ABBREVIATIONS & EXPLANATIONS

CL could also stand for Crown Lager !
And for all the travel agents here's one they hate-
ADM-Agent Debit Memo.

Thanks for this thread. Makes the whole site a lot more useful.
Can we consider a new thread *just* with what is on page 7, or perhaps a wiki for this information? It seems hard to find .. going to page 7 of a 16 page thread to find the information you require.
