Accor Plus Membership Discussion

Hi. So now I'm Gold with 34 nights, looking to sign up for 1night Stay plus with Fiji A+ membership. My problem is my VPN doesn't have Fiji. What can I do to sign up Fiji A+ please? I have until December 31st to become Platinum.
Also with all your experience, should I sign up A+ now or closer to December 31st?
Thanks

a) go to Fiji.
b) find a VPN provider that offers Fiji as an exit node.

I don’t know where those prices are coming from but online I’m seeing the Fiji prices in USD?

Edit: Using the live chat with Accor Plus it appears they can't accept Fijian Dollars as a sign up online (at least that's what I was told), hence it makes me think that pricing may only be possible if signing up directly at the hotel. I guess one way to find out would be to call or email the Sofitel in Nadi and see what they say.

Yep, that's on the plan ;)
But do you think I should wait till closer to end of year to line up with membership yearly renewal?
If you’re looking to maximise any A+ status carryover into a following membership year, on renewal, then yes, I’d hold out until December to set up… but don’t leave it until too late in the month in case you need time for any remedy. Would be pretty ordinary to end up with a 1st week of January membership due to any delays in processing!

Cheers,
Matt.

Im signed up with ALL + thru Fiji- another member passed on my details and Accor Fiji called me.
Im now in my 4th year thru Fiji, in fact, just renewed 2 weeks ago- $220 aud, and used the stay plus night , Novotel DH for December before a flight out of SYD. Also had my wife with me last week, and over the 5 nights dinning- saved $50 a night, so just got my membership $ back.

I wouldn't chase the absolute cheapest country because prices will probably change in the future. This time last year Malaysia was the cheapest but not anymore.

I would also sign up in November instead of December. I believe they have changed the rules in that you will now get the 20 bonus nights on renewal on the first day of your new year. Getting those nights in December vs 1st of Jan can potentially screw up your plans. Having a November anniversary eliminates that uncertainty.

It’s the new A+ membership period rather than the ALL status year though, so would mean December each year, not the following month? Not a concern for mine as I don’t make status on nights.

I have a three night stay in the first week of October.

To sign up late Sept for dining benefits, or wait until Dec for the longer term status/ renewal month benefit. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Decisions, decisions.

Not sure if anyone can confirm, but I thought renewing or joining at the beginning of the month is the same as at the end of the month (ie renew or join 1/12 or 31/12 will give an expiry of 31/12).

The other consideration is if you join in December, you are limited to renewing in December the following year and might miss out on any deals in earlier months - but of course no one knows exactly when deals might happen. (February seems to be 50% off month lol)

I’m looking for an opinion 😀.

My A+ year finishes on 31/8, I have some red hot room booking mid October, nothing in between, is it worth waiting to renew until 1st October?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Two of my future bookings are notated "this stay will not earn points". One will be because I am using my bonus night, but I don't know why the other.

My questions are: Do bonus nights count as a "stay" night? Do those booking which, for whatever reason, say "this stay will not earn points" still count as a "stay"? I have discovered that a recent stay paid mainly with points but a tiny cash balance on arrival has not been listed on my account as a "stay".

As long as you charge something to your room you should get it credited as a stay. Bonus nights I’ve always charged dinner or drinks to the room and it’s been credited as a stay

do you still get the Accor+ dining discount when charging to your room or do you need to pay at the time of dining?

I'd be careful with cancelling or letting the A+ membership lapse while having RHR rates booked. I'm taking a lower risk chance with an A+ discounted flexible booking in Asia, in January, by which time I will be signed up again, but wouldn't have exited the program while holding deep discounted prepaid booking/s. This is the clause that has me concerned... though I'm not sure whether adjustment actually happens at the point of expiry, or when you go to check in:

11. Consequences of termination or expiry
11.1. If the Accor Plus membership expires or is terminated for any reason, you will no longer benefit from the privileges related to the Card. Any future accommodation or restaurant bookings existing at the date of termination or expiry will be adjusted to reflect non-member rates.

Cheers,
Matt.

In the A+ terms, it does state that 'your Accor Plus membership is valid until the last day of the month shown as the expiry date on your membership card', but I am not certain this also applies to the ALL status carryover, or if that would end with the membership expiry. Dining discounts etc would be available until the end of that month, for sure.

On timing, I'd agree that there are some other good offers that come and go through the year, but the flexibility of [up to] an additional 12 months of status by setting your A+ membership up at the back end of the year outweighs any promotional savings on the program, at least in my situation.

Cheers,
Matt.

You need to show them your Accor Plus and get them to discount the bill on the spot.

You can then charge it to the room or pay directly, but the discount can't be applied after you've left the restaurant.

Thanks, that does seem a bit risky, might need to wait until next year to try and shift my membership renewal until later.
