AFF Cruise #2. Rerun. Crown Princess 4 nights 25-29 January 2025

After a lot of searching I have a suggestion for peoples thoughts. I still like the idea of the Celebrity Edge cruise I eluded to in Post #7 however as that's not until November 2025 I am just trying to put something in place a bit earlier.

Crown Princess
25th January 2025 (4 nights)
Sydney - Hobart - Sydney

In post #9 RooFlyer offered cheap tours of Hobart.
It's the Australia Day long weekend so people may have more availability.
Prices are reasonable.

Prices from the Princess web site:
Solo:
Interior Sold out
Oceanview $1317
Balcony $1953
Mini Suite $2106
Suite $3283

Two people:
Interior $700pp
Oceanview $800pp
Balcony $900pp
Mini Suite $1200pp
Suite $1800pp

A plus package cost $65pp per day and includes:
Wi-Fi (1 device per guest)
Plus Beverage Package
(15 drinks up to $22 each)
Unlimited juice bar
Premium desserts (2 per day)
Fitness classes (2 per cruise)
NEW 2 casual dining meals per guest
NEW OceanNow® delivery
NEW Room service delivery
Both people must get the drinks package if you decide to get it.

If in doubt about the package just book without it and add it later.

There is also a premium package for an extra $30pp per day but personally I cannot see the value.

Military or Ex military would be given a $50 on board credit (OBC) and Carnival Corporation Shareholders would also get a $50 OBC.

Interesting... 🤔

My GF loves Tassie so wouldn't take much convincing in terms of the destination 😜

I'll be in this. Anyone know if they'll let me do only Sydney-Hobart, for a lower fare?

I'll honour my offer for some sort of tour, in Hobart, but the cruise excursions look good. I'd recommend the Tasman Island Cruise , but this one might also be of interest :)

I am seeing different prices to those you have listed above. Do you perhaps qualify for different prices as a past guest?

Prices I see are:
Solo Oceanview - 1577
Solo Balcony - 2213

That would normally be the case however I wasn't logged in when checking prices. Let me look again.

I cleared cache and have tried using my phone, three different browsers and even used an Incognito page and on all occasions got the same prices as previous. I have no idea why the difference in price.

Why I originally picked 25th January based on the fact that a 4 night cruise effectively takes 6 days and my understanding is that's pushing the limits for a lot of people. January includes a public holiday which I thought would make it a little better for those who are time sensitive. I personally like the November Itinerary better but was trying to cater for the majority.

At a personal level I possibly can't go if it's November but what's better for the group is more important than me.

I am now seeing November at similar prices to January.
Royal Princess has 500 more passengers that Crown Princess. (3580 max vs 3080 max)
Royal was built in 2013 and refurbished in 2018
Crown was built in 2006 and refurbished in 2022
Also Royal has been getting a lot of negative feedback lately on the cruise forums. (I hope it's wrong as we are due to get on Royal on 6th April to Japan for 21 nights)

Thoughts everyone?

As a cruise-novice, happy to follow other cruise-veterans ... Nov or Jan dates are ok with me. I can move my work related things if required. Both Nov and Jan are far-away, so no issues there.

I get the same as Zig after selecting 1 pax.

I guess it'll be what it is when we book!!

So I had a look and get the higher prices.
But why not the November 10th cruise on the Royal Princess. 4 days, Sydney to Hobart and slightly cheaper.
I had a look on these ones and I found a cheaper $1740 for a single, mini-suite. The website starts off with the $2k fare, but goes down to $1740 after a few pages? Newbie luck perhaps?

That is another issue in itself. Prices can be VERY fluid (dynamic) just like airline ticket prices.

November option is a no go for me as I'm (almost) guaranteed to be in Japan at that time.

That being said, I'm certainly not going to try and put my personal availability ahead of the group. If the timing works and I can make it, then great. Otherwise, c'est la vie 🤷‍♂️
