AFF Flight Tracker

Yes - the aircraft type seems to be the most 'buggy' variable with the autofill/autocomplete being a very dumb thing indeed, sometimes picking random aircraft types unrelated to the characters you are entering, and a huge but strangely incomplete array of random often incorrect aircraft designations. See example:

Is this likely to be fixed ? I tried entering some info tonight and quickly gave up on this bit.

I don't know but its a bit of a 'hurdle' when new users come in, or users with existing excel or csv data are presented with invalid data errors on data that is actually valid.

Also, why is there no dedicated thread for the AFF Flight Tracker ? This thread, about a small part of the AFFFT is buried under Community Resources > Your Questions. It seems like it should be given more prominence.... Perhaps the number of users is low ?

I find clicking outside the cell, then going back in allows me to correct the partial entry. So if I am trying to enter 737-800 and it seems to want to give me 734, I click outside the cell on the background of the form, then click in the cell, backspace and type in what I want.

Hi Serfty -
I want to import my BA97 data to AFF Flight tracker. I can download the info as a .csv but how can I move it into Flight Tracker? You seemed to be able to do it - I keep on getting rejected.
Can you help?

Needs to be in a certain format. I can send you the template I made if you like.

I recall not being able to add an airport in (can't remember what the 'error' was) - I asked ADMIN to do it and he obliged.

Wasn't able to unfortunately. QF had it as one but in reality it's not an airport so that's probably why. It's a b*s station ;)

Here's the doco in relation to the .csv fomat.

For Aussie date formats, you need to use .'s e.g. 31.12.2015

OpenFlights Help: CSV

Set up your .csv then open the site:

AFF Flight Tracker: Flight logging, mapping, stats and sharing

Click [Import] from the Control Panel on the right hand iof the window.

A pop up wi8ndow should open - select [BROWSE] about 2/3's of the way down the page on the left side and select your .csv file.

I've now finished trawling through all my old receipts and have created a .csv ready to import. The only problem I'm having is with my "flights" to/from TPR. As people may recall it was in fact a bus, however was able to be booked as a full QF itinerary e.g.

Any idea how I should best deal with these?

I did try to add it in but it wouldn't accept it.

I'm late to the party, but TPR has been added for you, admittedly perhaps at the aerodrome instead of wherever the bus station was/is, but I'm sure you can live with that. When you select flight number, you can change the selection to road/ship/train too ;)

Sounds good to me, can at least track all my points earning sectors now ;)

Hi samh004. If you're busy fixing things, are you able to look at this: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....k/aff-flight-tracker-50925-2.html#post1176137?

Procrastinating here, instead of doing a uni assignment, there's some javascript in the official version of openflights that's not in the AFF Flight Tracker that may be preventing me at this stage from editing airline data. I'm not great at that web stuff, so keep getting errors, but we'll see what can be done. Obviously, we don't want to open it up too much for fear someone could abuse the system.

I had trouble importing my open flights record to AFF, so for the moment open flights it is for me.

If instead we could create a virtual link between the two that would be good (maybe not possible)

Happy to share my working template if that'll help for copy/pasting between the two to make sure they look the same....

Couple of questions for the Flight Tracker Boffins on the forum...

- Does anyone add non-airline flights to their Flight Tracker? I have done a lot of charter/GA/private jet flights over the years, just wondering if anyone adds these flights or whether it is purely an airline/RPT tool

- Historical Ansett flights. Can I assume there would be absolutely no way to access old passenger records for flights with Ansett prior to their demise, given I don't have any records [but have fairly good idea of rough dates and itineraries]?

- Same for old Qantas flights in the nineties. Any way to request old flights based on QF FF member number?

Thanks for any info
