Still too early to call as I have not seen the specials for October-December from Qantas yet....

Doesn't the current sale (until 25 June) cover these dates?

Hmmm....JQ30 dep MEL T2 1200h arr SYD T1 1325h. Check-in opens at 0900h which means technically to make check-in and have a reasonable chance of being first-ish in line as well as maximum FL time, I need to catch QF601 from BNE, which departs at.....*sarcastic muted trumpet fanfare*......0500h :shock::shock:

There is a reasonable chance that the next sale may cover the DO dates.

You could go to the Qantas site and check them out now!
Hmm.... I saw the sale dates as 28 Jul 09 - 17 Sep 09 and did not notice that 20 Oct 09 - 10 Dec 09 was also available.

Since the sale period starts 20 Oct 09 there is a very good chance I will be in Sydney that weekend. Not quite ready to commit to flights just yet!

Well, you have 49¼ hours ...

Personally, I can't see QF flights being much cheaper for the remainder of the year than the current sale.

Of COurse 18 September - 19 October covers the Spring School Holidays nicely ...

I'm interested. I will need to check out the work situation in the morning before going PLAT (booking).

Just out of interest which flights/times are people heading back to Melbourne/wherever on Sunday evening?

Haven't booked yet (will do later today) but planning a 5-ish departure to MEL.

Can I be moved to Platinum please.

25/10 QF455 SYD-MEL 1730 - 1900

Accommodation not yet booked.

Jenny and I will be there from around 10am Saturday - heading home Sunday on QF463 @18:30.

As a Sydney resident I would suggest the Bavarian Bier Cafe (two locations) or Belgian Biere Cafe (one locations). The beer in the Belgian is better for connoiseurs of beer and the food in both locations is much better than the Lowenbrau (also the waitresses outfits in the Bavarian are a lot more perky ;))

Bavarian likely to be problematic given it is on the QFF Restaurant List. I can see 30 cards down on the plate already !

No more problematic (or doubly problematic!) as whose Amex card will be used to pick up the tab. :p

I remember AFF Gather #2 when the infamous Amex "x transactions for y bonus points" promotion was on....

If anyone wants to collect my tab I'll be more than happy to let them :p
