I'm a PLT confirmed but not sure how much of the three days will I be attending - but I will be attending something :mrgreen:

Hmmm....JQ30 dep MEL T2 1200h arr SYD T1 1325h. Check-in opens at 0900h which means technically to make check-in and have a reasonable chance of being first-ish in line as well as maximum FL time, I need to catch QF601 from BNE, which departs at.....*sarcastic muted trumpet fanfare*......0500h :shock::shock::shock:


There is a reasonable chance that the next sale may cover the DO dates.

These are sacrifices we make! I'm taking the midnight special from PER-MEL so I can FLounge. All I need is someone to guest me in now....... how's that for taking my chances, eh. Given I'm confirmed for the event though I should get first dibs on someone being able to guest me in!!

Dammit, I'd love to come, and it's in my home city, but I'll be sitting my fellowship exams just the week after, so I will have to bow out on this one.

Hmmmm, Westin for 10,000 starpoints or Sheraton Four Points for 7,000?

If I pay, it's $450 vs $250 so I'm thinking The Westin might be the best choice in terms of value ?

I currently have 13,300 SPG points so the remainder will go to AA and just nicely tip me over for a J return award flight to NZ regardless of which option I choose. My SPG balance is unlikely to rise due to any hotel stays or point transfers any time soon.

Well, as the chef said to the chicken, "Stuff it".

Put me down as Platinum. I could always argue that I'd like a week back at home so that I can organise last minute things before I go to Europe, which would seem very reasonable.

Luckily I put in a best available rate holding on the Hilton Sydney. Since I've done so, the rates have gone up. Not sure when I'll switch to advance purchase rates.

Rumour has it that there may be a large convention in Sydney during the week of AFF Gather #3, or the week after (not sure). Either way, might be a good idea to make sure accommodation is secure for everyone.

On a similar note, is there a "hotel central" for AFF Gather #3? I realise our previous AFF Gatherings really haven't had a central point.....

Now I'll be sweating for the next QF domestic sale to (a) happen before AFF Gather #3, and (b) cover the dates of the Do...... :-|

Oh yes, this also means that I will be opening up another WP guest spot for MEL FLounging ....

Not really any central point - let people go wherever their preferences or alliances take them. I haven't booked my lodgings yet, but good chance that a PP BOGO certificate will be involved somehere in my choice
