Im +2 for the bus idea!

I have a room booked at Rydges Capital Hill - the Honeymoon Suite even ;)

Rydges are offering some reasonable deals at the moment at the Canberra hotels. My travel plans at the moment are:

Good chance I'll be in the same hotel somewhere .

Hopefully, not within earshot of the Honeymoon Suite

The OH and I are also booked at the Diamant. AUD190/night flex rate in their "Compact Room." Looks like a most interesting hotel!

We're holding off on flights till we absolutely know that we're attending.

Is that the one with the lounge room? I thought I would spurlge for one night and get that, but it wasn't an option.
Drinks at yours then!

EDIT: I just booked a bike to ride for the weekend. So while you lot are out golfing and drinking, I will be getting my cycle bound culture on.

I have also booked to stay at the Diamant now. I’m holding off on flights in the unrealistic hope that QF will include me in the next double SC promotion that’ll cover those dates in October :p

Thanks for the reminder Tae!

I think the compact room is the standard room. The website makes no mention of compact rooms but it's showing up as 'compact room' on Sabre.

Would people recommend stepping up to the Deluxe Room? The compact room looks kinda cozy (I suppose it does exactly as it says on the tin!). Only a $20 difference.

I am not golfing... only drinking.

edit: OTOH I reckon the smaller room actually looks funkier, from the pics anyway. The larger Deluxe room looks like any other regular hotel room. And I might be tempted by the Premier Room if i booked the Deluxe....:p

Ok I've also booked into the Diamont where I used the current HotelClub $30 off promo ;) So total cost $278 for two nights.

WOHOO - Just had leave approved. Next week I am going on a flight booking bonza.

Oh!!
Floriade is on while we are in town.
Cycling is going to be an overload of colour and scents!
Colour me excited!

OMG this is going to suck and I do hope everyone is ok.

I spoke to HotelClub whom most of us booked the Diamant through.

Apparently there are usually reciprocal agreements in place with other hotels in case of emergencies - however since our bookings are so far out, we can rebook with another hotel over the phone and they will waive the fee to do so.

I am going to wait a day or so and see what the outcome of this fire is before rebooking.

Without a computer easily accessible, I'll defer to what you choose to move my booking too :p
