I am off on my catering fact finding trip to HBA at the end of the month. Whilst there have been a couple, this thread has been pretty quiet about eating suggestions.

We* will finalise itinerary and eateries soon after I get back, so speak up now or forever hold your appetite!

I'm still a maybe. Airfares are looking a tad pricey for someone who will be without a job unless funding is available at the end of October...

How many nights are you there to try all the many restaurants contending for the right to host? :p

From my last talk with jdevereux3 I was under the impression he was aiming for a brewery tour on the Saturday morning (optional Salamanca Markets if breweries aren't your thing) so certain attendees don't over indulge before lunch, followed by MONA in the afternoon via a ferry and an undecided dinner, possibly accessed by coach. If the brewery tour ended up in the afternoon... god help us all :p

Hopefully a full plan can be finalised soon though, so I can work on some industry representation. Anyone have a BBQ? ;)

My hotel booking says no entertaining of guests, plus it's a studio... so I'm not sure where I'd fit everyone anyway :p
I think you set the bar quite high last year with the Sunday BBQ. I am not quite sure how to match that!

"Paging a HBA local with a BBQ and open to a hoard of strangers visiting"!

MONA gets pretty busy in the afternoon so we may program that in the morning to avoid the crowds. A work in progress.

Unfortunately my 2 burner doesn't even burn a sausage... So I will compile a list of eateries that you should consider..

In no particular order but in Hobart:

Fish Frenzy
Henry's at Henry Jones
Drunken Admiral
The Mill on Morrison
Rockwall
Smolt
Ball and Chain
Maldini's
The Astor Grill
Garagistes

For a bit further from Hobart

Me Wah in Sandy Bay
Point revolving at the Casino
Restaurant 373 in North Hobart
and my favourite Da Angelos in Battery Point.

For a tipple afterwards

Cargo
Grape
Barcelona
Customs House
T42
Knopwoods Retreat also known as Knoppies!!

any questions please ask... It's my day job..

Some good suggestions there smatho10, thanks.

My hotel room is booked, currently reserved a 1 bedroom executive suite at grand mercure. I still have to sort out whether i am staying at the MONA pavilions on the first night (looking at arthur).

Well colour me platinum, I'm flying Jetstar  must stop being so indecisive.

Friday JQ709 arriving 4.05pm
Sunday JQ708 departing 5.25pm (it was that or 1pm which was a bit early).

You'll be flying in with JessicaTam, other than that I've noted 11 confirmed flights into HBA now.

Hope I'm added to the list of Platinum honour some day..

You are on the list on my computer, it's just not been updated on AFF ;)
