N381HA heading home as HA9800 presumably non-rev and without a replacement (had been stated Brisbane were only doing checks on 3 HA aircraft this year)

Assume a QF 332 may head in soon

This is a long thread alright and I have lost track of the whole thing. If someone can put simply. Are all A330-300's now refurbished? How many A330-200's to go?

Technically - all operating 333s are refurbed. QPJ is presently undergoing refurb and due out in about a week.

7 332s to go. None presently in the shop

I was on VH-EBQ today - she's an old one.

Saw uppy in the J lounge - thankfully she got a re-fit.

VH-EBM is due to start refurbishment from around 5th June.

VH-QPG is due to be repainted in Singapore from the 3rd June. In fact if you search Brisbane too Singapore one way on the 2nd of June you will find QF53 will $299 economy and $999 business class. This will be the QPG maintenance flight.

So we may well remain at 9 in service refurbed 333s for some time as they rotate the remaining 4 to get New Roo.

Good to finally see a date for EBM

Flew J on a refitted A330 last night but just MEL-SYD.
Very impressed with all aspects of the hard product but remain a little perplexed as to why QF didn't go reverse herringbone as a number of airlines have.
Haven't time to read 265 pages in this thread to find the answer but curious if anyone has the answer at hand

A number of airlines chose staggered too. Why is herringbone better in your opinion? I prefer staggered

I think there is a little more privacy and I suspect you can fit more herrings into the A330.

I also wonder if they've shelled out on a one-off design which would be more expensive than a slightly rejigged herringbone as CX, QR, AA, Virgin and others have done... and works so well!

Fairly minor things, however a bigger problem for QF is that it is so much better than its A380 J, which I think is really showing its age. An update coming?

I think the fit is about the same.

QFs is not a one-off design. It's the Thompson Aero Vantage XL
www.thompsonaero.com/vantage-xl
QF was the launch customer, but SAS is also using it, and many users of the smaller and older Vantage design

Advantages of the straight suite as I see it are real traditional window seats (albeit staggered) and more side space that can be used as work space - the herringbone designs are typically narrower (eg CXs original coffin)

Agree the A380 seat is looking old but you can't have everything all new all the time. While QF hasn't announced anything yet I'd be willing to bet in a common A380/B787 seat with introduction of 2017/2018 (as the first A380s reach 10yo)

I would love them to do a refit of the A380s with the new J product (but with more quality workmanship and with a few tweaks to resolve some design flaws (with the seats, the footwells, the seatbelts and the scope to lose belongings!). But I can't see it happening for quite some time, if at all.
