Paid fare. I didn't think award seats up front existed on Honolulu flights. I was tempted to do Air NZ via AKL to be sure of a flat bed but wasn't up for the overnight stay on the way back so took advantage of double status credits and an OK fare on Qantas

I wasn't sure if you were QF Plat and had called up to get 'U' class award seats released.

NZ was a good option once when they had a day flight AKL/HNL although you had to fly in the day prior for the 1000 departure but it's now changed to an evening departure.

It was always overnight HNL/AKL so nothing has changed there. Day flights coming home are great because I never get jet lagged.

Not sure why as I'd think the load factor in Y to PVG wouod be higher than HNL right now.

They had paid J fares to HNL in March of approx AUD1,800.00 each way that was on sale last year .

The recent flights we did on QF3/QF4 were chockers in J and that was the 36/199 config.

I have seen some awesome fares to HNL which actually made it cheaper to add on a AA HNL-anywhere than to fly via LAX. When will all the flights be changed over?

Hi All - Looking at SYD-HKG J return next March options for both a330 and 747 available. Is it a safe bet that the a330s will have the new J suites? Thanks.

Are QF on track to realistically being able to adhere to this timeframe ?

Very much so.

Only 8 of 28 left (1 333 and 7 332).
They generally take a month each and the facility can refurb two at a time.

Not sure when VH-EBD was done but it's now in the new 28/239 config & operated QF598 PER/BNE then likely goes back to the West as QF767 as it's departs from the same gate 24.

21st of February was the date EBD returned to service in 28J/243Y

I am flying to Hawaii late november and I think it may be on EBG, EBL. whats the chances that these planes will have the upgrades completed by november. I am not using points for the fare as I only have about 20k. The cost of booking business class for my flight is quite expensive $3k higher return higher than economy but I am willing to part with these dollars If the sky beds 2 are fitted. The fare dropped down last week to $4k and I would have jumped in then had I realised they were going to bump up the fare again.

Are all MEL-HKG flights refurb'd? Looking for a flight next week but would fly CX over QF if it's not refurb'd.

There's only one international A333 to be refurbed so you would have to be pretty unlucky not to get the new suites.

EBG and EBL are the aircraft generally used on the HNL flights. Two points:
1. both are already fitted with Skybed 1 (angled-flat).
2. the new config is not Skybed 2 (which is on the A380 and B747). It is the new Business suite, which is completely different again.

But to answer the main question - by November, chances of getting the refurbs are very high. They will either all be done by then, or maybe still have one to go.

Why not fly business outbound on the overnight flight SYD/HNL then economy on the return which is a day flight so not a big deal if not in J. I would still rather have Skybed Mk1 bed than an economy seat however have only done points upgrades to J (48,000 points) not a bought J fare. While EBG/EBL are still in the older config of 36/199 there is a better chance of being successful with a points upgrade because once the a/c are fitted with the new J suites the config is 28/239 so there are 8 fewer J class seats.
